Can anyone identify who made this piece? I believe it was purchased in Mammoth several years ago.

I was just thinking about that artist's work a couple days ago.
Wondering if and what the artist is creating these days ...
I have no idea who it is; but the work was fairly prevalent, climbing specific market of course, in the 80s and 90s.

EKat,

Way to pull a name out of the past. I seem to remember that name now. It's been a while since I spent time up there since my brother left town and Pete Schoerner died. Since then it has been sporadic visits.

I wonder if they have gone up in value? :)

The one pictured is hanging in the back room of my garage as my wife isn't as fond of it as I am.
I think of Mammoth and June Lake in the 80's and 90's every time I look at it.

I did a Turkey Monster climber out of Basalt and chicken-wire for Pete Keane in the mid-90's that he proudly displayed in his yard.

Love this medium - this one is much more detailed than mine.

Excellent work, may have to try my hand again. It is inspiring me! Thanks

I was on ski patrol with Jim Flaherty in the late 70's / early 80's. I'm fortunate to have two of his creations. Here is a photo of the solo climber piece. I have a skier which I also treasure. I'll post a picture of it at a later date.

I'd love to hear any news of Jim.

I have a Flaherty wire sculpture of a downhill skier similar in style to the climbers. I purchased it at Mammoth in 1986, the year shown on the label on the back. Does anyone have an idea of value, or know how I can get same? Thank you!

Impossible to value art that is not routinely bought or sold. Cool looking niche art (skiing or climbing) will always sell on eBay, but since collectors are not seeking out Flaherty's work the prices will be modest. Would be cool if you could post up a picture of your piece, I like the style.

I heard he is working for ATT and Cisco Systems, along with Elon Musk and some other Tech Giants... Flair-Mo, what a card. #CodeBlue

Edit: I did a few art shows with Flair-Mo and those sculptures were pretty damn cool... and quasi pricey. If there was a nice solo climber one on the trademark wooden shard, it must be worth $300 to $500 I would think.

According to Google, his pieces show up for sale every few years. It looks like they are priced under $100. It also looks like many of them don't sell.

Inthefog - where did you find a history of sales? I would pay 100 bucks for one of those pieces.
