Very sad tale indeed. I am happy and proud to own a pair of JB's self-titled shoe. For some reason, the JB in an 11 fits perfect though I have worn 9.5 in Five-Ten for the past 12 years. Rockin shoe. My tribute, a self-belayed flag on the inaugural day on the rock with John's footwear:

Well- since this was a resurrection my original post there seems weird. Please disregard post #1 since they are gone now.
I love my JB hightops (in spite of the sizing issues). I'm lucky to have obtained a back-up pair since they have long been my go-to regular climbing shoe. Finding a replacement will really suck since there is no comparable shoe these days.
RIP Acopa

Not sure, but it's very likely that Desert Rock Sports here in Vegas still has some Acopa shoes in stock.

Ron, Thanks for recalling that proposal about Lynn. I was not knocking her in any way, I just remember hearing/reading that she was planning to step forward and "fill John's shoes."

I've been wanting a pair of JB boots but held off hoping to get to Wilson's and figure the size out. I guess I am too late.

So, in my La Sportivas I wear a 42, what's that in a JB?

Just a warning.. I always had to go 1-2 sizes larger than my street shoe with Acopa. They always had trouble getting the sizing consistent. Try them on in person if you can or order from someone who will exchange or take returns.

SO bummed about Acopa's demise. SO bummed.
Was lucky enough to find two pairs of JB's in my size for 65 a piece shipped to my house.
Now I'm scouring for a couple pairs of legends.
JB lives!

Locker,
How much of the Acopa rubber you got? And would you be willing to sell me a portion, say two pairs worth of coverage?

It's all good Ron... I was just clarifying for Ana that I had heard/read that somewhere and was not yanking it out of my yahoo.

Nope, ordered my street shoe size and they are way too small.
US shoe size is determined from the length of the foot. Your shoe size is 3 times the length - 22. My foot is 10.5 inches long so:
(10.5" x 3) - 22 = 9.5 my street shoe size
A size 10 foot would be (10 + 22)/3 = 10.67" or about 0.17" longer
I measure the inside length of a climbing shoe that fits and I get 9.7" inches. I measure the inside length of an Acopa JB size 9.5 and I get 9.3" inches
So, I would probably need about a size and a half bigger or size 11.
I also found that the left shoe is just a bit smaller than the right.
I guess I'll send them back.

>Señor Ron Gomez, upon re-reading of my post I realize that I unintentionally pointed a finger at Dario. Didn't mean to be so blunt and certainly didn't mean it to be capricious. I can't imagine how hard that decision was.
