I remember a time when Tom Higgins returned from climbing and bouldering in Colorado. Some of his time was spent trying to do routes that were put up by someone named John Gill. We knew how good Tom was and he said the problems there were REALLY hard.

Another story of the mythical Mr. Gill for us kids at Indian Rock.

I don't remember exactly when this happened, early 70s I guess.

The weather in Berkeley is usually pretty good, not muggy very often. The rock is hella slippery though when holds are used for a couple of generations.

Fred, I remember Tom's return as well, and the almost mythical status in which we held jgill. I particularly remember our trying to determine what a B2 would be like. Ben Borson thought one variation of Watercourse left, involving a swinging lieback, might qualify, but he wasn't sure if John Gill would think it so. We had no candidates for a B3.

It continues to delight me that John posts so regularly on ST.
