Sorry if this was mentioned before, but be careful with how you study and the format in which the test is presented.

I studied a lot for the GRE by printing out the previous tests from their practice site and timing myself as I went through them. I was doing pretty good and felt confident. But, when you have the whole packet in front of you on the table, you can skip the hard questions and come back to them once you finish off the easy ones (this is how I have ALWAYS taken tests)

Then, I get to the real test and I discover that it is computer-based! This means that you don't get the packet of questions and you have to do the test in order, looking at ONE question at a time and you MUST ANSWER IT to move on. This means no skipping the hard ones and coming back to them.

This really threw me during the test and I feel that my performance suffered because of it. My advice would be to pay money for a computer-based practice test so you can "practice like you play"

Good luck!!!

This may or may not be helpful, but when it came time for me to apply for grad school, I took one look at the GRE study stuff and said f*#k that. Most countries outside of the US and Canada do not require (or even recognize) the GRE. I applied for (and was accepted) into a master's programme at one of the best schools in New Zealand and I spent my time between undergrad and grad school climbing and skiing instead of buried in a book of study sh#t. I've since stayed in NZ and have just finished vet school here (fully accredited, recognized degree all over the world, including the US and Canada), all without taking the GRE.

If you're stressing about it, maybe have a look at other countries/schools that don't require it and do something there. Opportunities for smart, driven people abound, with or without taking some stupid test.

all the best with your future studies

t*r,
The GRE isn't that bad, like a glorified SAT. I didn't even study (and I'm not that smart). For the subject GRE, I just used online sources and downloaded a bunch of practice tests, but again if you know your subject well it should be rather painless. But, having said all that, if I were in your shoes I'd drop out and climb :)
