I always considered the lottery as a tax on people who are bad at math. As such, I have never played, err, given my money away.

werd, speeding tickets are a tax on those that don't pay attention when they drive and fail to use their mirrors regularly.

The current jackpot is worth $310,000,000. If one person was to win this, how much would the IRS get? Any other taxes, such as State?
Didn’t somebody just win Powerball back east around $300m or so and had to pay the IRS like almost half of it or something?
The lotteries in Ireland and Europe are tax-free lump sums.
On the lottery homepage, why does Arnie get a link to his guvernator website for? Do all guvs get a link on lottery pages?

You can thank Mike Ousley. In addition to putting ST on the map, he's a full time graphic designer in SoCal and he was involved with that campaign.
