I love Tuolumne Meadows as much as the next guy, but let's play a different game.

Guess the date when the electric car comes back to stay.

Will the electric car make a comeback and stay for good?

Guess the date, if you wish, or just give an opinion on the subject.

How much longer do we have to wait around for this to happen? I'm sick of relying on oil and coal. I want renewable energies to be mainstream. Electric cars, solar and wind power could make 6 billion people, and our Earth, happy and sustainable, and put a few hundred millionairs out of work. I can live with that. Otherwise, they keep drillin' and a few hundred millionairs get richer, and 6 billion people suffer. My $0.02.

My guess is December 2023, when it's cold and snowy for most people and the oil is near tapped out, and there's no other choice but to go back to the electric car.

Neil Young is giving it a shot.

If they can design and power that car, I'm sure anything is possible.

....and maybe you've heard about the film "Who killed the electric car?"
http://www.whokilledtheelectriccar.com/
If not, go out and see it today. It's a good film.

If I was working in the marketing/sales department for Ford or GM(or any other car co.), I think I would be in favor of designing and pushing the sales of elecric cars. Wouldn't you? So why the wait? Seems like to save their asses, they could profit from the electric car.

If anyone has any suggestions, links or plans to bring back the electric car or any information about renewable resources, please post em'.

Good day. Enjoy the clean air.

It'll come back as soon as it's the least expensive, most efficient option, and not a day before.

2011 Nissan Leaf
Starting Price: $32,780 (before up to $7,500 in federal tax savings) Available for reservation (starting May 15, with delivery in December 2010)

When the Nissan Leaf hits the streets, it will be the first mass-produced all-electric vehicle -- and it even comes with a relatively affordable price (and is eligible for tax credits on top of that). The Leaf runs on an electric motor powered by a massive battery pack which can be charged by a standard 220-volt home outlet or a quick-charging station. The Leaf can travel up to 100 miles on a full charge -- more than most people drive in a single day.

It’s a four-door hatchback and seats up to five passengers, so you can use the Leaf as a family car. Since it doesn’t require gasoline, it is inexpensive to operate and should be ideal for commuters, too. According to Nissan, based on national average electricity rates, the Leaf should only cost three dollars to charge. Plus, initial test drives show that this electric vehicle drives just as well as any car, with smooth acceleration and braking.

315 miles is just over the distance from the Bay Area to Bishop.

It will cost you a house to own that vehicles, but looks like the electric car is here to stay.

The battery improvements that Teslas Gigafactory are designing (have designed?) means that electric cars will be mucho improvo'd by...

soon, very very soon. Damned exciting times when soon your car will be a mobile battery pack supporting your homes electrical usage.

Apparently you don't believe in reading? If oil were to be gone even by
2053 it would be $300/barrel now instead of $48. Oil won't even be close
to tapped out by the turn of the century. The Earth doesn't need
electric cars, it needs condoms.

Yeah, there's that.

But electric cars are no bad thing. We have an old Honda Insight hybrid. Gets over 55 mpg, and recharges its batteries whenever we hit the brakes. No drain on the grid, and minimal gas consumption. What's not to like?
