A picture may tell a story, but some pictures are about story tellers...
We're moving in a few months, which has had us undertaking expeditions to the dangerous underground archaeological site known as "The Basement." All kinds of forgotten sh#t has come to light after years in the darkness, including a folder labeled "odds and ends" in a box that wasn't labeled at all. In the folder was this photo -- a picture of some story-telling climbers at the Boardman Tasker Award ceremony in London, almost three decades ago. We're all older now, and you don't have to worry about any of us scooping that new route you've been working on (well, Vic probably could), but we're all still telling stories.
The guy second from left is Victor Saunders. A pretty good writer, and a truly badass climber. They gave him First Prize. On the left, to Vic's right, is yours truly, who took home First Runner Up. Nowhere near Vic's league as a climber, but a badass writer. On the right is Dermot Somers. At least as good a writer as Vic or me, but the judges gave him Third Prize. I don't really know anything about the woman second from right (Pat Harding), or her husband (Mike Harding) who she was representing.

This one tells a story. I was moving fast on tile barefoot, making a turn, and slipped a little. My next obstacle was a set of two tile steps and my plan, of course, was to skip the first one. My slip threw me off a bit, I went for it anyway and came up short kicking the top edge of the second step with force. Pain ensued. That was six weeks ago. Pins come out in two more.
Sorry, my feet are usually well groomed. This sh+t kind of interfered.

Jeez dude, you're doing it all wrong. No wonder you're hurting.
Everyone I know puts the earbuds in their ears. I don't know why you tried to put them in your toe, but you probably aren't hearing much through them, so you keep cranking the volume, and the vibration is totally putting a stop to the healing.

SS Vesta, built by Palmers Shipbuilding & Iron Co., Newcastle in 1879 and owned at the time of her loss by Det Forenede Dampskibs Selskab, Copenhagen, was a Danish steamer of 1.122 tons.
On July 16th, 1917, Vesta, on a voyage from Seydisfjord to Fleetwood with a cargo of herring and wool, was sunk by the German submarine U-88 (Walther Schwieger), off the North coast of Scotland. 5 persons were lost.

On the one hand it's hard to believe it lasted 100 years. On the other hand the shape of it, the design is quite old. Perhaps it was washed up under some rocks for a long time and then released.

Something had to protect the paint and whatever material it is made from a hundred years worth of UV rays & other weather-aging. Maybe it recently made it to the surface(?).
Marlow's post of the barn inspired this. It's a 28" x 33" enlarged slide or print my dad had processed in the early 70's.
