I don't know what was going on sixty years ago, but if that thing is somewhere the temps go below freezing in the winter, you could spray up a pretty good ice climb...

The location does in fact have extended periods of below freezing temps. Fresh water to make ice is sadly lacking.

Yep. Took it down to the bottom of the yard let it go in the cactus. He never rattled. It is really dry and they are looking for water now. Just need to keep your eyes open.
