After those that know looked at my image of Lewisia, the thought is that it is actually Lewisia glandulosa (Sierra Lewisia) and not L. longipetala.
L. longipetala is found up around Truckee.
L. glandulosa is rather common down where I like to saunter.
No matter the name, it is still a pretty flower in a pretty place.
I had never before seen it in all my travels.
