hey there say... okay, i am back with a few flowers...
sadly, though, none from the woods...

well, here they are-- just the local neighborhood... here goes:

well, just got a phone call... got to run, guys...

will maybe, i will put some flowering trees and bushes...

but---that about it, around here, unless i get a chance to get to the woods... not much else:
we do got neighbors with with neat tulips, daffs, and hyacinths...

well, have fun... very nice NICE FLOWERS you all got up here...
:)

EDIT: oops, if you look at that TALL WILD ONE, i had rearranged the LEAVES so it would look less-messy so i could use it for a card... and well:

the STEM IS NOW CUT FROM THE FLOWER, by the brown leaves... oh my... :(
*can't fix it right now... ;)

Decorative plum on the side of my house.

More pics from this morning.

Ferns.

On the edge of the peat bog.

In the rock garden.

Near the bog.

And an angel to watch over us.

Melange is my favorite geology word: I always use it to describe something that I can't name.

Excellent shots, everybody.

Thanks for the flower photos.

Toullumne tradster, could the lone madrone be a manzanita? It looks a lot like one. THey're in the same family, have very similar bark and the same urn-shape to their flowers.

That first photo is a botanist's delight.

also, just to mention, the photo from Jenner includes the invasive ice plant. It grows rapidly and was reportedly introduced to stablize coastal sand dunes.

Edge's photo from the peat bog includes what looks like Sphagmun moss. Not a very common moss, so a real nice find.

Dipper, I agree that it's likely Long Petaled BitterRoot, Lewisia longipetala, a rare and endangered plant. And it's hundreds of miles south of its only known area, an incredible find. You should report it to the CalFlora database with your photos:

http://www.calflora.org/cgi-bin/species_query.cgi?where-calrecnum=4774

Also I just ran across a picture of Rosy Stonecrop (Rhodiola integrifolia) that looks alot like the reddish flowered plant that was with the BitterRoot.

simpervirens: I don't really know the difference between a madrone and a manzanita. A madrone is a tree and a manzanita is a bush...correct?

Avocados in bloom:

Most of the flowers will turn into little avocados, and they will be Avocado Green from day-1. When they get to be about pea-size, most of the little avocados will fall off. The tree will keep as many as it can handle.

These are Zutanos. I only have a few Zutano trees, like four or five. They're for me and the dogs, so we can eat avocados in the winter. They're not really worth selling.
