Nice pics,
WORTHY thread.
Staying inside the park with a space heater in the tent...
Flappers.
XXX drive in movies.
I haven't been there since all the regulation. The closing of the 45 degree wall was the start...
Hard to believe the Mushroom Boulder is closed too.
TANKS FOR THE MEMORIES!

Man I miss that place. Used to winter there for a couple of months every year.
Sneakin' in, roaming the whole park at will, camping at Pete's with the tribe of dirtbags, getting altered and doing the Great Slide, hanging with the kiva masks, jogging with the havolines, hanging in the round room, warming up at Dragon's Den every morning, occupying chairs at the Barnes and Noble on rest days, getting lost in Juarez, scamming showers at El Paso hotels, hacky-sack with crazy mohawked Euros, swilling 40s purchased with my last pennies...
Since the whole-guide required-to go-anywhere-but-North I just don't have the heart to go there anymore.
I guess you can never go back, eh

Aww man. Thanks guys.
From something I posted elsewhere;
"I first met Ward Smith at Hueco in 1991. I told him I was from Atlanta. Nope, never been to the T-Wall. "You live in Atlanta and you've never been to the T-Wall?!", he repeated, incredulous. Ward and his pard turned to each other and burst out laughing. I was a gumby, what can I say...
At Hueco, they would urge each other on between slugs of a viscous, bile-green muscle-building fluid, ritually intoning 'guns ah blazin' before each attempt, long after my exhausted partner and I were reduced to spotting. Their guns were indeed huge, so maybe the green stuff had something in it after all."

I recognize that adult movie theater sign, lol. Is Pete's still open? I remember it had a mexican plumbing system that didnt allow you to flush the toilet paper, that just accumulated in a trash can in the bathroom.

I had the great pleasure to climb there back in the late 70's and 80's with the Head Brothers!
Great Memories!

Great video James! I really like the shots of the 45 degree wall, and of what I assume is the first ascent of the Road to Nowhere. I love that place!
