She performed her song "Both Sides Now" for the opening ceremony for the winter Olympics, but it's not clear if it was live or recorded. They didn't show her performing, and there was something about her having been sick.

While living in Hawai'i and spending a lot of time with my friend 'Aunty Nona' I had a chance to enlighten her a little regarding mainstream/mainland folk music.
Aunty had this kids book that someone had given her and she really loved. It was a poem broken into many pages. There was really nice background art on each page.
I first found it one day sitting on a bottom shelf of a small rolling book case in her living room. I picked it up and started to read and immediately recognized the prose. Aunty saw it in my hands, mentioned her joy when reading it and I asked "Well then sit down and I will read it to you." She sat and listened with a growing smile. When I finished reading it (as a poem) I said to her "surely you know who wrote this don't you?" She did not recognize it...
So I picked up her ukulele and began again,
but this time I sang it ;)
Bows and flows of angel hair
and ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons everywhere
I've looked at clouds that way...

Wow, I have to admit I like her schlocky folk rock as much as the next guy, but she comes out with some real doozies in the interview: (my typing may not be verbatim)
"America is as perverse right now as Germany was right before WWII and our leadership was as grotesque as it was in Germany at the time every bit. Americans are as ignorant as the Germans were of the atrocities that its government commits around the world but the rest of the world knows so there's a tremendous amount of hostility but the hostility is futile because you can't stop it. . . .
the boys are weakened and the girls are grotesquely aggressive [OK, maybe she's onto something after all]"
She should stick to collecting her fat royalty checks and living the American dream, and save the social commentary for people who have the slightest idea of what they're talking about.
Edit: All I did was post a brief transcription of the interview cited by the OP, with some VERY brief commentary (some of it positive, some of it not). Commenting on what the OP put in his thread is fair game.
If anyone disagrees, she can start her own thread, and I'l stay out of it.
Edit to Philo: hey, maybe you're right, I've met plenty of wimpy American men (maybe I'm one) and super-aggressive American women. That's what JM was getting at, for better or worse.
I'm guessing you didn't even listen to the interview before you wrote your post?

We're in her home town right now. She grew up here in Saskatoon just like I did, at pretty much the same time. But I somehow missed out on whatever it was that gave her what she has.
There's a painting of her on the bus kiosk just outside my father's apartment block.

Supposedly, she wrote "Michael From the Mountain" for Mike Covington.
