Never knew him well BITD.
But I do remember that every interaction I ever had with him was pleasant.
He never came across with big ego or attitude.
Something I've always appreciated in many good climbers.
(But not all of them obviously.)

Way to go Dave!

Dave is probably the funniest guy I know. We have had many good laughs over the years and shed a few tears also. Dave often falls into this really funny woman's voice full of sarcasm and angst. It' usually precedes a good gut laugh for any present. The last time I saw him, after drinking and carrying on all day he told me that the voice was his Mother. I was touched. I know how much Dave's mom meant to him, because his father was a complete as#@&%e. Life has not been really easy for Dave lately, but he never asks for anything but some good companionship and some kind words, and maybe some beers or the odd toke. Anything for you, my brother. Peace, in all you do.

Cool guy. I had a chance to share a fire with him at Facelift 2009.

At the FaceLift in 2009, keeping good company as always. Next time he visits Squamish we may have to keep him.

I am sorry to hear that his mother has passed on, she was a very nice person. I'll have to try and get a hold of David, who I have not seen for some 30 years, to offer my condolences.

Dave's mom passed away a few years back Patrick. Next time I talk to him I will mention your name and condolences. I'm sure he would appreciate it.

Dave is a good man, and I have always enjoyed running into him
in the Valley or Tuolumne. He cracks me up. One day Higgins and I
were having breakfast in Tuolumne at that little coffee shop/store
just down the east side a bit, and here comes Dave, full of life,
full of energy, joined right in with us as though we were all brothers...

Back some many years ago, at the end of a long day of climbing in the Meadows, I somehow left my fully loaded pack with a full rack, camera, and a rope at the side of the road, and drove off back to the Bay area. I pretty much just assumed it was all gone for good, but someone suggested I call the lost and found in the Valley just in case some angel had been good enough to turn it all in. Believe it or not, someone - Dave Yerian, they told me - had turned it in, and I recovered it all the following weekend.
That's a person with a good heart.

I can't say enough good things about Brother Dave. A GREAT friend, one that has helped(and continues to help)me through one of the roughest times of my life. Totally giving, humble and appreciative, Dave you are a good person and I hope I give back just a portion of what you give to me. Take care Bro!

Dave is one of the nicest, most sincere, positive and helpful guys I've had the pleasure to tie in with. He would literally give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.

Stories? About David?

Use to hang out with him at his mom's place in Sonora in the mid-1970s. If I recall, her name was Vera, but not 100% sure about that because she was Mrs Yerian to me, and it was some time ago. They had a flat/apartment in Sonora at the time. I use to go there for a cup of java or so.

I've got a couple of stories about Dave, one or two I have already told on this forum in the past. Yeah, he's a good guy, better than some climbers I've climbed with and/or come across. Good bicyclist too.

I hope that he is doing well, he's a sound man. Best wishes to him, whether we ever meet up again, only time will tell.

Hey Skitz-

The City boys all remember good things about ya'.

I remember coming back from doing The Hobbit Book sometime in the late 70's and shaking my head about the run out pitch. I remember you laughing and saying to me, "if you fell off that pitch, you deserved to die". True enough

Timid Top Rope, I never knew about the hit and run incident, as I lost touch with David in the late 1970s.

Dave is a great, guy; funny, superb climber, and all that, but hearing his speech at the Bachar Memorial was a life changer. Never have I heard one of my contemporaries, come off in public as profound, and ungaurded, as that. Like Ghandi, Malcom X or Bob Marley or something.

Hat's off, to the man...
