I don't really want to see the one I had on LEB/Lois...
But IF it crops up...
I'll get what I deserve...
and TAKE it!!!...
I DEFFINATLY wigged on the poor lady...
But then, a good friend had just died...
and though it's not an EXCUSE, it is in fact WHY I lost it...
Plus her being a NON CLIMBER at that point in time, for some reason really bugged me...
what with this being a "CLIMBERS FORUM" and all...
But from that "Meltdown" I learned a FEW things and even have grown to appreciate Lois in an ODD way...
and of course...
there was Cosmics "Meltdown"...
It "WUD" be interesting to see how many there are...
Maybe Werner "CUD" count them for US???...
and "FOR THE RECORD"...
I DON'T want to see Rokjox LEAVE the forum/site...
Certainly NOT what my intentions have been...

suddenly.. I find the meltdowns to be pretty funny.....!!!
specially when locker is involved..
I'm not going to comment on what about lockers posts is so funny to me.. just know that they are funny, and the guy makes alot of points (as far I I am concerned)....
and to my knowledge, he has not completed a "meltdown" before our eyes... (except for the one on LEB/Lois,that he admitted to, and has learned from.. I no longer feel that sending the guy to jail for argueing points on the internet...
and to be sure... I only watch racing to see the crashes when its any american style racing (circle track "is" racing... but for left turning dummies... I'm not one of them, and circle track racing "is not" racing in my eyes) but I most defilitely see european racing as much better.. more refined, and more based on how goo d adriver is, rather than how many people don't crash out before the end of the race....
cheers all, and keep the meltdowns coming

While I don't remember ever melting down I did get some drippings on me once. Not so bad.
A meltdown is really just a grandiose public declaration that no one need pay any attention to you for awhile.
Since no one ever pays attention anyway, meltdowns are largely redundant,

Hey Pate,
I'm not sure I used quite this wording but it seems close.
In my defense I think I also said you were the one guy I would most like to have a beer with but would never let you near any of my daughters. :-)
But don't get me wrong, I'm still lining up lawyers to sue the hell out of you so your still not off the hook.
But, for the sake of taco harmony I would be willing to settle out of court.
You would owe me one ski lesson. (I would still supply the beer.)
Most importantly I need to learn how to fall better (I am the king)
At least learn how to fall without taking out an entire lift line like row of bowling pins in the process. (Trust me when I say I've done this.)
I am quite sure everyone on the slope would be deeply appreciative of your efforts if I could learn this skill.
Thanks,

When somebody or something causes you to "meltdown," it is really not all that big a deal. What it means is that you have some issue(s) which you need to look at, work through and, then, patch up the dike.
Remember, "that which does not kill me, makes me stronger." On some levels, our enemies and opponents DO make us stronger. What we don't want to happen is to let them kill us.
Now, Pate, for whatever artistic talents he has (and there are a few there) also has a sadistic streak. He delights in making people (or at least trying to do so) miserable.
So when Pate or someone equally mean-spirited "strikes," look at what he is picking at and see if you can shore up that part of your persona so as to come out stronger for his efforts. Ask yourself, what is this little jerk picking at which hurt me? Pate is sort of like those infrared photos which show you where the heat is leaking out of your house in the winter. You can actually put his malevolent posts to good use.
Think of people like him as an entity on a "search and destroy" mission. That is what he hopes to do but no one need join him in the gutter. He/they don't have to destroy you but rather such people can actually help you. They show you where the dike is leaking.
Remember always: "That which does not kill me, makes me stronger."

Flattery will get you nowhere LEB.
I could fill this thread with links to the political threads where there are mini LEB induced meltdowns, and pages and pages of LEB ridiculously defending herself instead of admitting idiocy.
You can't even come on this thread and admit that you've been an as#@&%e at times, like all these guys have manned up and done. I think that's a typically female trait, you never hear much self-deprecation. I even got a cryptic, bitchy email late, late last night from one of the females on the forum who was pissed off that I linked to one of her (extraordinary) meltdowns.
LEB, I'd have a lot more respect for you (read: any respect at all) if you posted a link to some of the outrageous sh#t you've posted during the times you've been backed further and further into a corner. There are plenty of them. You would then be able to diffuse what you claim to do in posts like the above, you would disarm people's ability to call you a self -centered, opinionated misinformed idiot who seems to display serious masochistic tendencies by being practically the only complete non-climber on a climber's forum. Like a football whore.
How about it LEB, can you find one of those links that I know you think about?

Now as far as me being "wrong" about things. Well, of course that is so. Duh.... so what else is new? What did you think, I was going to bat 1000 every single time. If someone corrected misinformation I had or else taught me something I did not know, then that person did me a favor. This site is not about perfection. I learn things all the time around here. Dirtbag, for example, is always filling me in on stuff I did not know. I run stuff by him all the time. He is but one example. Nobody "knows it all." Pate,
Here is a perfect example of what I am referencing. It does not matter what picture or photoshop manipulation you post because I have come to grips with that issue. You have become powerless to affect me in that way i.e. you made me stronger. I have (long before) come to terms with the fact that I had a reasonable amount of beauty in my younger days - enough to attract whatever men I was interested in - and while it was nice then, beauty (and strength, potency for men) fades with aging. I am approaching the 6th decade of my life and so many truly good people passed before me and did not even have the opportunity to experience so much life. So I am fine with my appearance and my age. I have a very full and graced life. Now, it is time now for me to serve others.
So then, nasty people such as yourself and others here have come to help me realize this "truth" and now I am fine with it. In fact, I am now "stronger" for it and you lost yet one more weapon.
I would encourage everyone to do the same. When some sadistic person on this site posts something hurtful, take a step back and see what issue they are raising for you. Rather than "go away mad" or "melt down," look at why the photo or the words bothered you and see how you can deal with it in a way which makes you better. Soon, your enemies will have nothing left but a fist full of straws - totally unable to penetrate your skin. Pate and his kind can only hurt you if you allow him to do so.
Once again: "that which does not kill me, makes me stronger."

LEB, you need to go a little more lightly. The only reason any of us read the train-wreck threads are because they're entertaining. That's just American culture. That's what sets you apart in this forum, and probably in life. You have no clue what people are thinking or feeling, you assume they are all taking things as seriously as you.
Most of these guys aren't climbing too much over the winter, and a lot of us make our living outdoors, when the weather is less severe. Until TR's start to go up regularly again, ST is a time-suck that's a lot more interesting than TV, and easy to hit up while slaving in an office.
It's not sadistic behavior LEB, it's just a joke. I'm sure the 5th grade teacher used to tell you the same thing.

time for my meltdown, right here and now. i am calling you out LEB as part of the whole problem with medical care in the USA, have you no principals?
http://supertopo.com/climbing/thread.php?topic_id=653865&tn=20
LEB said - I typically do not prescribe the pills even when people request them because of the potential damage to the liver and other organs. I do an end run around the situation by sending the patient off to a dermatologist thereby dumping the problem into his or her lap and letting that person deal with it. I tend to turf stuff whenever a patient wants something which I personally do not want to prescribe for safety reasons. I suppose it is a cop out some level but I manage to get away with it and the specialist, the patient and I are all happy with this approach.
yeah, send the patient to a specialist so you both can charge $ to the unsuspecting patient. Think the car in lockers tailpipe pic and you and the specialist doing the patient.
where the f%%% are your principles as a medical professional? does anyone else see something wrong with this picture (not lockers but LEB not telling the patient her professional opinion...)???

Hawkeye,
Lamsil and other meds designed to treat toenail fungus can be potentially very dangerous and, thus, outside my scope of practice. Given to the wrong patient or a prescribed in an injudicious manner and they can destroy someone's liver. BTW you just can't go to the drugstore and pick up a new liver. Hepatic failure is fatal.
This why God made dermatologists and other specialists. These are not "safe" meds. I have done precisely what the law (and good ethics) require me to do. I refer my patients to a specialist when their illness OR their requests are outside my scope of practice.
Practicing outside the scope of one's practice is an excellent way to get sucked into a lawsuit for malpractice AND lose one's license to prescribe meds......to say nothing of harming the patient. People are specialists for a reason and people are generalists for a reason.
If it is all the same to you, I will just continue follow the laws of the states wherein I am licensed to practice (versus your ill-informed advise).

Hawkeye: BTW, BITCH....
Now here is a man who sets a fine example of self control and the ability to hold an intelligent conversation.
What they are paying me for is to evaluate their complaints, diagnose their problems and decide whether this is a problem which I can appropriately treat in my office .......OR whether this problem is beyond the scope of my practice and thus should be referred to a specialist (as required by law, just for the record).
Treating persons for illness and problems for which one is not qualified to handle does not serve the patient's best interest. Again, since you seemed to miss it the first time I told you (reading comprehension?), I will tell you again ....practicing outside the scope of one's expertise is a good way to get involved in a malpractice suit, lose one's license to practice......AND (worst of all) harm the patient.
These are not difficult concepts to grasp and even you can do so with a little effort.
PS I DO tell them about the liver failure and why the medication is ill-advised. If they STILL want it (and many DO still want it) - I do most certainly refer them to a specialist to prescribe and manage this therapy.

Pate,
Yes, indeed, we must remember to include a holistic approach. We must not discount the value of Native American (and other tribal societies) spiritualism.
Actually, the truth be told, it IS very important NOT to ask the patient to choose between their traditional beliefs and (new age ones, for that matter) and allopathic medicine. We must select an approach which meets all of a person's needs. To a Native American, for example, including the recommendations of Shaman in his care plan is very important. He need not, nor should he be asked to, abandon it just for the sake of having some allopathic medical treatment. While you may joke about it, in actuality respect for people's cultures and traditions is very important ..................
But of course you KNEW that already because you are omniscient. We are very fortunate to have an all-knowing being such as yourself in our midst.

It worked for Hollywood Hans BITD, but you wouldnt know that cuz you ain't no climbah, and you didn't lebbify the Hans thread(edit: yet). Oh sh#t

Hawkeye,
Well, it seems it seems to be all OK on that front. I am not aware of any problems in that arena.
Now here is the story. I am off for the day and I am working on my husband's business taxes....and you KNOW how boring and tedious that job is. And, worse, there is just so much data to process before I plug it all into turbotax. Once you get all the data organized on spreadsheets, it is a piece of cake to enter it into TT but the data organization is tedious. Somehow, I managed to get this job along with cleaning the kitty pan - I "lucked out" on the division of labor. Anyway, it is SO boring and this site is so interestin, by comparison, that I keep clicking over. I use a combo of Quicken and spreadsheets so that helps.
Whenever I am working on taxes or business data, you guys all see a lot of me. I would recommend you sort of think of it as purgatory - the chance to work off some negative karma.

Out of curiosity, are you a drug rep or something akin to that. Just a stab in the dark but wondering. You seemed just a tab defensive so I am wondering if my hesitancy to RX certain drugs takes money out of your pocket, in some way. Again, just a stab in the dark but it is sort of an odd thing for you to remember my reluctance to prescribe certain drugs for so many months.

drug reps only know what the drug companies tell them. typically they do not have a science background so the questioning atttitude is not there. i did not remember your post that thread was up and running and i was glancing through it when i saw that your typical response to a patient was to send them off to a specialist for a little toe jam. that certainly helps the insurance and medical bills doesnt it?
|
|
LEB

PA
|
 |
Well, this is reassuring. I was wondering if you called me a bitch (nice?) because I was taking the position of caution on behalf of a patient instead of lining the pockets of the drug companies.
Now, one thing you have to understand in all of this, is that patients do not always do what you wish they would. You explain to them that the hazards of the medication they want outweigh the condition they are requesting you treat. You explain how the medication is quite toxic and it requires close monitoring to avoid damage to their liver......and they STILL want it. Worse, they drink or they take a variety of drugs which ALSO taxes the liver. But, never mind, they want it anyway ..........AND should they so happen to develop liver damage, there will be some nice tort attorney (thank you, Obama) willing to sue the hell out of you. He will put you on the stand and DEMAND to know why you RX'd that drug.
Next, the state will want to know why did you prescribe out of your scope of expertise. Are you not keeping up with the latest on pharmacology (as required by law to do)? Finally, once you have a malpractice suit against you - however ill-begotten - now there is a black mark against your name and no one else will insure you when your policy runs out - or if they do, they will put you in a very high risk pool and charge you big (and I do mean big) bucks. Once future employers hear that you are in a high risk pool, they don't want to hire you because their group claims go up. So, then, forget about changing jobs. You are screwed. (Thank you Mr. O for blocking tort reform)
And so you want me - in spite of all of this - to give the guy the med he is requesting (demanding is more like it) because he saw some turkey on TV advertising it to him. No thank you. If they insist they want the meds - even after you told them otherwise - then they go to a specialist and it is HIS (or her) call as to whether or not they get it and, then, what kind of monitoring they will need.

Yes, Hawkeye, I did once have a married man tell me that BJs were not sex (this was before the whole Clinton thing). He told me they were, in fact, "innocent." The problem is/was that some people who were significant in his life - not the least of whom was his wife - did not interpret it in quite that same way.
For the record, BJs ARE sex, although I have known any number of men who have maintained otherwise. They are not esp "innocent" activity between two people.

Locker,
Here is the thing. Sometimes I believe you don't realize how truly offensive some of these graphics you post really are to some people. I don't believe you really mean any harm by them and some of the graphics truly are very funny. Some are hysterical.
But........honestly, at times, you simply go over the line. People have different levels of tolerance and constructs of "decency." I think you just crossed the line in this particular case and I doubt you meant any real harm.
Sometimes we all don't realize the effect we have on others. I am forever driving people off the deep end and I really never mean to do so. We all of us probably need to be more sensitive to the effect we have on others. This is esp true of those of us with very strong personalities like you and me.
