Ptpp, just had an excellent Barbera D'Asti with dinner in DTLA. Gnocchi - my comfort food from childhood - to complement.

Phylp - the Barbera D'Asti from Piedmont region I got at TJs was a huge disappointment, and does not hold a candle to that from the Sierra foothills.

The best by far: Mastroserio, Toogood, Windwalker, Boeger and especially Hatcher.

Move heaven and earth to get yourself any if the above.

I need wine. Flight delayed....again.

How pathetic, and incompetent, too.

All I can say to that is:

Are you kidding me? TJs? And quit picking your nose.

I'm drinking Basque Cider. Kinda good, in a funky, barnyard kinda way.

Excellent. Now that is a Barbera. You won't find that at TJs.

Sorry to have missed you Pete...woulda been fun to send you off. I suspect we passed on the roads somewhere.
Last night was just something out of a box. Something white.

Today I should probably drink some American beer.

When you and Anita are back we'll open the Chianti Classico.

"When you and Anita are back we'll open the Chianti Classico."

What? That bottle I spied on your sailboat, and asked you about? The one you wouldn't open for *me*?! [What's Anita got that I haven't got?]

I know it's not Friday, and we are not even drunk, but we are enjoying a FABULOUS Cabernet Franc from our buddy Ruggero Mastraserio up in Fairplay. We make Cab Francs in Niagara, but they are dry and boring and not tasty, unless of course you leave the grapes on the vine til January, and make 'em into Icewine. Our Cab Franc Icewine is the best in the world.

Anyway, the Mastroserio Cab Franc is superb!

Good Friday night, all! We are warming up here in the Eastern Time Zone with some beers. A Boreale IPA and some Mexican Sol with limes.

You know which one each of us is drinking. ;)

I think Anita may be taking me free climbing tomorrow. I wonder if I remember how? Swimming will hopefully be involved, supposed to be hot down in the Dacks.

A piece of bread and a glass of red is being brought to me. The kids are elsewhere. I have no questions, but ready to enjoy quiet conversation with my wife. Life is good.

1. Your current consumption
A bit on the bitter side at first, but halfway through the first pint it grew on me. Empty stomach helps.
2. At least one inflammatory comment **
The first person to claim 5.16 is a liar.
3. Why you are drunk and typing on McTopo instead of doing something worthwhile, like driving to the crag.

Home alone. Woohoo!

All is good in Choss Creek. Our monsoonal thunderstorms preclude safe mountain adventures.

Our new buy of Bonterra cab must have been cooked in transit by recent 100 + f. temps.

Back to our old, but unknown, Campus Oaks Zin.

Monday to Weds this week, was a lot of fun, with my old (who works too hard) pal Jerry.

I feel sorry for those out for the weekend in our current monsoonal flow.

all of my friends they have wives.
and those wives insist
that my friends do not associate with me.

for my influence on said friends
is, in the eyes of said wives,
detrimental.

my friends degrade, slowly
the more we hang together.
they become less employable.
and less agreeable.
less romantic.
lessy hygienic.

more dreamy.
happily lost.
and tolerantly ill.

as we drag our dreams
through the sky
trying to erase rainbows
we ultimately drug
the stars until they
blur and eventually burn out.

Pete, I regret to inform you the Chianti Classico direct from Italy has been opened and drunk without you and Anita. I couldn't keep the sailors from opening it. It was good. Very good. In fact excellent.
My son is off to Italy next month. I'll have him bring some back. I will.

^^ Well, at least you took pictures of it, Susan ...

Hopefully we'll see you in mid-September, and your son will have brought some more back.

Only one margarita tonight, after rather a lot of beers with my buddy last night. We played a bunch of games of pool, and for the first time in my life, I sank the eight ball off the break - instant win!

Nice crystals and trout, Fritz!
