Just finished with watching Ken Burn's National Parks on Public TV.

Always a good watch with Ken.

Mouse from Merced sat on a wall

Mouse from Merced had a great fall

All the SAR people said with a grin

Give him a joint and a glass of white zin

Mousie revived and came here to tell

White zin will save you from going to hell

Well now! What to drunk-bitch about first?

To be positive!

The wine is Costco Napa Valley Meritage, and it's not bad for Costco wine.

On the other hand, my 64th B-day hiking & party celebration was scheduled in the Sun Valley (Idaho) area this weekend, with old friends attending.

Then the Idaho Mountains got a good dose of snow mid-week, and another big-storm rolls in this weekend.

Luckily we got a hike in with some of those friends last weekend, before the weather closed down.

I do feel lucky that at this age, I can still do a mountain hike with two-high school friends and their lady-friends.

But----the Beetles song about turning 64 still keeps playing in my head.

Only wine can shut it down.

What are you doing for the weekend?

We need you and those lobsters in Choss Creek Idaho! Heidi & I will take care of accommodations, liquor, & details!

1. One beer. One. Cold. Singular. Beer. Why? Because doc says I have gout, and the alcohol gets to it. Significant other's mother on the other hand, has neatly polished off a bottle of wine, and it shows.

2. Supertopo: A step above Craigslist. Oh my unholy god, those people cannot, to save their lives, formulate a grammatically correct sentence. And they live in my fricken town! Ok, so to be fair, I tend to troll a little... only instead of living under bridges, I tend to burn them. Whatever. I feel like making the switch from Clist to the Taco has somehow elevated my intelligence by at least a whopping three points.

3. My wonderful, beautiful, pregnant and oh-so-patient partner would skewer me with a hot, dull, rusty and broken pipe if I so much as thought about leaving her alone with our poor sweet child tonight or tomorrow. At just over a year, the poor thing is on antibiotics again because of the triple threat of sinus infection, ear infection, and strep under her diaper, not to mention molars coming in on the left. Basically, I'm on all-night baby duty. Not to worry... hitting the crag on sunday. After which I intend to consume at least two lukewarm Sam Adams. Maybe even three.

Well-now! Here it is---Friday night, and T. Hocking and his 80 lbs of lobsters have not shown up in Choss Creek Idontno.

So it goes!

Alexander Valley Cab in the wine of choice, and frost afflected Heidi's garden last night and will likely kill it tonight.

It's going to be a long one tonight. Five beers down and I haven't eaten yet. I started around 8:30 so I got my pace already. I quick sandwich and I'll be good till at least two.

jonnyrig, when did you change your name from hillrat? And whyyyyyy?!?

RANT: That's my gripe about this damn place. It takes me years to get even a vague recollection of people's handles and then they up and change them. I can understand quitting your job and going on a year-long road trip. I can understand trading in the Hummer for a Prius. But what kind of existential crisis leads one to change their Supertopo Forum name? (Brandon is exempted from this rant.)

I hit my alcohol limit on Thursday night - 2 whole glasses of wine! The occasion? My hubby was traveling and I got to spend the whole night watching 8 episodes of "Modern Family" (which he doesn't like). Four hours of drinking and cackling like a maniac. I have a whole list of rom-com chick flicks lined up on Netflix for when he travels! Sooo fun and satisfying!

I finally made it down. Finally. Sheesh. It was pretty hard. I hadn't soloed a wall in ten years, forgot how much work it requires!

If you can believe it, I actually came DOWN with booze. I was running short of water towards the end, at least until I reached Thanksgiving Ledge, at which point I had tons. But I actually returned to the ground with a bit of booze left over.

I'm in Mariposa right now, just visited the local wine tasting room and picked up a very fine Zin. But an even bigger score was my Eisch Breathable Glass for only 14 bucks - woo-hoo! Time to celebrate!!!

Congrats, Pete! Must have been nice to not have the background noise.

In your honor, Sir - I am having Seagrams 7 and 7-Up (the seven-and-seven I had a ton of in 1982 when I was border-hopping from Bellingham to get drinks at 19).

Just remember, the glass will NOT breathe FOR YOU.
