Ishun, if you don't know yet, passed away on the Obelisk after an unfortunate accident during a fall.

Well after our eyes dried the weekend of her funeral, some people had a memorial for her family and friends and that was nice. Because it was right next door to my house I attended also and enjoyed the time. They had an awesome slideshow set up in the backyard (huge, like covering the back of the house!). I ended up busting Wendy's fence hoping over it to get more beers from my house, but I did fix it later.

Because I knew Ishun very well, I knew she'd be smiling down on us if her climbing buds paid tribute to her in one of her favorite Bay Area climbing areas...with beers. It was coordinated and the beers were purchased.

Shady was our first choice, I have a pic somewhere of a group pose with Ishun here. I'll dig it up later, Ezra, you have it?

I belive this is Brian.

Ezra, Ying, and Dave (black shirt, background). Dave is one of the climbers who was on the climb with Ishun during the accident. Cool guy! Climbs like a monkey too!

more to come...

Next, we decided to hit the Platypus, another Ishun favorite.

Patrick was the other climber who was with Ishun on the climb. He showed up to the tribute but I can't find any pics of him. Very nice guy. He recounted the incident in detail for us to better understand it and lay it to rest.

Her official memorial site is here; http://ishun.org

We miss ya Ishun!!! I know you were there spotting my leads.

Rest in peace, girlfriend.

Castle really is a special place. Many trips with friends there. Made some friends there.

Cherish the time with friends. Go out and do those things that affirm life!

Cheers, Mucci! I had a blast climbing with you.

That's the sh#t Ishun was into...she loved that place when I used to go out there with her. It's really casual and beautiful, yet has some bitchin' climbing even if it is short/sport.

It's kinda weird not calling her up on the weekends for a partner. When she wasn't doing the SHuteye or some other cool sh#t, she'd call me up, "Are we climbing this weekend?"

Brings tears to my eyes. But I relish the fact that her spirit lives on there, and with all her buds. I just hope she can spot us all!!!!

Wasn't it though?

I stood there looking at you as you ambled by thinking, "Now why does that strange looking man with long hair, walking around in his long underwear with a beer in one hand and a cig in the other, look soooooooo familiar?" ;-)

You cracked me up talking about your friends stranded on Black Tide...and you do seem like a heck of a great guy to climb with.

How was Headstone?

Yeah, when I recognized Scuffy I knew right away who you were. I had heard you'd be hanging' with the FISHheads.

That was prolly a pipe I was smoking, I gave up the cigs.
