Maybe make it possible for the people to anonymously be in, in case they feel uncomfortable admitting such in the forum; they can contact you with their info without the forum confirmation. This is anonymous. You do NOT have to post in the official thread to be a part of the exchange, you just need send an email the special email I will create for the gift exchange. This email address will be posted on Monday, given sufficient interest. I am asking for at least 20 people to express interest in THIS thread just so I know it is worth the time for me to devote to it. The only people who would know that you are a part of the exchange are the gift sender and myself.
You may want to extend the sign up deadline, because so many people are traveling for the holiday. Maybe make it at least to next Friday. Lots of people won't have even checked the site by your current cut off time. I understand what you are saying and a lot of thought went into the timeline. If I extend the deadline though then there is much less time for people to figure out what they will send and less time for them to send it. If there is a larger consensus on extending the deadline then I have no problem with it. You just might end up with a late (after x-mas) gift.
If you can get me the info before 12/5 I am in. I leave for Belgium 12/8 If enough people are interested and we do go through with this, then I can get you a name and address before you leave.
So you in Locker and Pate?

I dropped him a line... if he doesn't want to do it I might run with it. Might be a bit late but we could always do it as a Secret New Year's Eve event. Who is the magical figure for New Years Eve? Not that baby with a cigar and sash across his chest... Baby Huey?!!!!
Let's give Strider a few days to respond and see where it stands.

Lynne... Of course! Father Time. I guess my mind was stuck in film tonight since I watched a couple. Baby Huey was from "Who Framed Roger Rabbit."
This could be fun if we can pull it off in "TIME."

I'll vouch for Striders good intentions and integrity. I think I know where he's climbing, so we can find him and knock his head with the Bridwell hammer if it doesn't work out. :)
I'm in. But that's a lot of instructions. As long as I can thank my SS, I'm kewl with it.
Now, is a blow up sheep NSFW? probably just if it has velcro tabs with matching gloves.

The gift should cost around $20. Homemade gifts are encouraged, there is no price put on care, creativity and thoughtfulness. Also factor in consideration for shipping, so your overall cost should be around $30 depending on what you bought and how expensive it is to ship.
If you make something then you just have to factor in the cost for shipping.
Lynne, when is your deadline for a name? Do have a gift already and just need a name by a certain date?

If they want it by Christmas pro @ 4-5 days. No gift bought yet, but Belgium is famous for its chocolate.....so if you hook me up with a lover of the sweet brown that would be cool. Or I could get something signed by Anak, the Belgium climber that might be worth something someday.
Santa, I, myself, would like something climbing related. Smiles and Peace, lynnie

good idea, strider. Too many rules though. I say just let people send random gifts. Or one gift to one person. That person doesn't have to reciprocate. Just buy someone a tricam or two, a couple of lockers, whatever.
The problem is getting peeps addresses anonymously. I think that's where Strider comes in. Everybody send him you mailing address.
Mine's 2190 Brown Ave, Santa Clara, Ca. 95051, Strider.

Umm, well most of the rules are about timeline stuff so everyone gets their gift in time. Sign-up by Tuesday, I email out names and address on Wednesday and everyone mails their gifts by Friday hoping they will arrive before Christmas.
And yes, for everyone to remain anonymous they just email me at
SUPERTOPOSANTA@GMAIL.COM
with their name and address and I will match them with someone random.
And there are no rules on gifts except that the cost should be around $20 if you buy it. If you make it there is no limit.
So if you want to join please email me at SUPERTOPOSANTA@GMAIL.COM and I will email you back a random name and address on Wednesday.
Cheers

I actually looked at buying a Red Rider BB gun for myself for Christmas when I saw how much they are. $25 at the Evil Empire aka Walmart. 350 fps and shoots both BB's and pellets. Single pump action which is nice for accuracy but you can't pump it up 12 times and launch a BB back in time to break your neighbors window. But you can do that with one of the $30 BB guns they have but its just not a Red Rider.
You'll shoot yer eye out kid!

An odd number doesn't matter - You don't have to make exchange "pairs"(which is what I assume you are thinking, with the even/odd number comment).
Just put each person's name down, and another list with each person's name. Then link people together.
Yay for the spirit of Santa!

It's Christmas Eve and as instructed, I opened my gift. My secret Santa, JohnTP revealed himself already so I offer my deep thanks up front. This has been so much fun!
Little did John know that he sent a gift that the whole family could enjoy.
First, check out the box - looks like some snuggly shoes or something to treat my post-surgery foot...
So... what is it?
*locker style*
No - not a pair of slippers or even shoes... it's a
lovely bottle of red wine! Yippee. This is definitely something to enjoy. Yum!
But wait, it came wrapped in blue foam. I didn't know how cool that foam is until I tried putting it in the trash. Clear faux pax as BrassNuts snatched it from me. It's "good" foam he protests.
Even Pente the crag cat got into the fun. The paper hit the floor and she was all over it!
Great gift, lovely wishes - thanks so much to JohnTP. And thanks to our Secret Santa coordinator! :)

hey there luckypink (will edit if i got his wrong)...
say... that cat "seperated at birth" is so funny...
wow---say, jaybro, well, after that secret santa is done with you... then, it is my turn:
there is also something else on its way to you, as i say the "wish for secret santa test-drive missed-the-boat" post, too, so you will have another surpirse as well...
BUT:
note: the FIRST little box, though is for anne (remember?) and the other item in it, is for your daughter...
your's missed the "box"... didn't fit...
so--more un-secret though, santa stuff is on the way...
it is so much fun to play in this ol' supertopo sandbox... ;)
ain't it... :)

Good stuff, thx "Secret" Santa from Oswego ;) you rock!
honestly this may be the best gift I got. The video has some tremendous footage of John, Peter, Largo, Royal, Kamps, Schultz, and several others. Just really speaking to John's impeccable style. oh, and the fact that I didn't have this one in my collection makes it super good.
really nice, thank you!
I haven't even gone thru the climbing pr0n mags all the way. Some seriously good photos in there.
Merry Xmas everyone!

I learned that the gift I ordered on the 16th was not delivered to the UPS until the 23rd. THE FRIGGIN' 23RD!
Grrrrr.
So, at least for that gift, this thread will be alive for some more time. Can't wait to see the other goodies out there. Happy Holidays to everyone!

Not to worry, Secret Santa JoeyF! Santa's a busy dude and knows that a day-after arrival just extends the holiday spirit for some....
And that is the case in this situation! My Secret Santa gift arrived today and I saw it waiting as I came through the door this afternoon.... Yay!!!! I am not posting the ID of Santa, but if that Santa so wishes to make themselves known, it is good with me!
Here is the pretty tissue wrap chosen to protect the contents...(excuse the basket of fruit, which I photo'd next to in a compositional attempt at highlighting the holiday spirit)
And here is what Santa delivered!
What a wonderful, thoughtful Santa. The card is a pretty winter snow scene of the Golden Gate bridges, and reads:
Terrie,
Wishing you the wonders of the season.
I hope you like coffee, Goat Rock is a local crag on the Sonoma Coast. My brother made the DVD. I hope you enjoy!
Wishing you a Safe and Happy Season!
This is really a perfect gift for me. Yes, I do like coffee! I can't wait to try this one out - perhaps this afternoon during the time when my energy cycle drops. What a nice pick-me-up!
The DVD is called "Timeless... A National Parks Odyssey"
This I am going to savor! I have the feeling it is going to have me thinking about road tripos....since it includes information on some wonderful places - Arches, Banff, Canyonlands, Zion.... and that's just a selection of the ones included!
Thank You, Secret Santa!

I'd never seen it before, Crimpie, but it is bizarre! I kinda like it. It's weird, somewhat disturbing, but funny too!
It'll be my new climbing shirt. I'll have to alternate it with my lime-green Sabbath shirt.
Oh, and everybody miss-spells my name. Lots of people throw in that extra C. It's par for the course, I'm used to it.
Thanks!

At first I was confused (my normal state of mind) since the package arrived from an overseas address. Then I was pleased when I saw what it was and I put the product of root(2) and root(8) together and got four!
Secret Santa arrived AGAIN! Thanks so much. And I am sure Karl "B" B thanks you too.

Any chance of sending them back for signing before I get them framed?

Super Secret Soldotna Santa-
For some reason the taco PM seems unreliable. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. Got your return PM.
Those are some great prints; I definitely want them signed.
Thank you again.
Edit: Headed to JT in a few minutes; can't pass up a chance for the Bird's slide show!
