Thanks Warbler, I've been running into San Diego Granite that has pockets and veins of black, brown and white metamorphic rock. Some is highly featured and similar to San Juacinto rock.

Ha! Kinda looks like it..
A lot of the stuff there climbs like limestone and is featured like it. My route has two 2-finger pockets on it, and my dad's has that mono. Crazy cool.

From the pictures, it looks like there are thin layers of Flow Stone on those lines.

There's a crag in San Diego that has overhanging granite roof blocks that are laminated together with a thin layer of "Cave Bacon".

Reference: There are two common forms of flowstones, tufa and travertine. Tufa is usually formed via the precipitation of calcium carbonate, and is spongy or porous in nature. Travertine is a calcium carbonate deposit often formed in creeks or rivers; its nature is laminated, and it includes such structures as stalagmites and stalactites.

The deposits may grade into thin sheets called "draperies" or "curtains" where they descend from overhanging portions of the wall. Some draperies are translucent, and some have brown and beige layers that look much like bacon (often termed "cave bacon").

Though flowstones are among the largest of speleothems, they can still be damaged by a single touch. The oil from human fingers causes the flowing water to avoid the area, which then dries out. Flowstones are also good identifiers of periods of past droughts, since they need some form of water to develop; the lack of that water for long periods of time can leave traces in the rock record via the absence or presence of flowstones, and their detailed structure.[2

PS- I've already reserved the route name, "Cavin Bacon".

Good one! I'm sure "Footloose" is taken and that movie brings back bad memories anyways.

Speaking of climbing over black and brown rock...I'm sure a Trump reference could fit nicely.

One last photo dump of our routes. Both are finished and have been climbed! Such an amazing process. My dad just sent his yesterday, 'FLN' (5.12b). An instant SD classic. Sadly we didn't get any photos of him on the FA, but here's some of Jed and me. One more photo of my route as well. :-)

Why does anyone live in LA when they can get better weather, better beaches, better fish tacos and MUCH better climbing in SD.
