Sweet. Can't you come up with a better name though? Like "Fixed Rope Controversy" or "Son of Karl Baba?" Just an idea.

Maybe he had a crazy party up there with some loose blocks? How do we know?

Well, he was the one up there, but block trundling seems to be a common occurence on FAs, walls or otherwise.

Dave! What's up, bro!

Congrats. You're done a few days earlier than expected, huh? I tried to monkey-call you Sunday morning before I left but you and Zack were out...hard. I had fun tossing the slander around with you guys. Nice job on the new line.

Now of course we all want to know that stats -- how many holes? How many pitches total? How many unique to your route? Favorite section/pitch/features?

And what about "Barnacle Bill?!" I thought a nautical theme for the route name was going to be the way to go...

Suhweeet! Congrats!
Dave, We didn't mean to "harsh your mellow!"
(I laughed for 10 minutes when I heard you say that on the radio to Jamie!
Sorry to hear you ran out of some "essentials".)

Waiting for Tom to post some close ups!

nice --

.. i hope that dave doesn't give away too many details .. other than a hand-drawn topo .. and a hole count ..

.. my guess is that ammon should go up it next and get the 1st one-day ascent on it.

Congrats again Dave.

I can't believe he just spent 18 days on the wall and he's going back up on something in a few days. That's hardcore.

My story:

My partner and I were humping our pigs down from bailing on the Trip last Tuesday. Suddenly we heard the dreaded and intense sound of large objects plummeting toward us through the air. After you've had the crap scared out of you enough times, you learn to be a judge of how much stuff is airborne. This time, it was alot!

I hoped it was a base jumper. The sound kept getting louder and closer, whizzing, roaring, hurtling. I just bent over and hoped my haulbag would save me.

There were some impacts on the Stone, and suddenly rocks were impacting the talus all around. mostly behind me, but a few in front of me. I thought about what it must been like to live in Bagdad during shock and awe.

A few days later I run into Dave and he tells me about the HUGE whipper (60 feet?) that he took when a HUGE chunk of the route he was climbing detached itself with him on it. (Note to Dave's Mom: I'm sure it was nothing, we climbers love to exaggerate and talk smack) Anyway, it seems that Dave and I and my partner Andy were all in the wrong place in the wrong time, but with the right Angels.

So I think Block Party is a pretty cool name

peace

Might call the pitch where the block came off the "jumping ship" pitch. Congrats Dave, enjoyed the view from my laptop.
