Just a heads up that there was a rather large rockfall at ~5:15 yesterday (Thursday) evening, between Serenity/Sons and the Rhombus Wall. Rock debris traveled along the eastern edge of the big talus slope there, apparently sweeping the base of Super Slide, but fortunately did not make it as far down as the Ahwahnee parking lot. I'll be getting more information today, but I wanted to let people know in case anyone had Super Slide in their sights for this upcoming (sunny) weekend in the Valley.

We climbed on the east end of the Cookie all day and it was excellant sunny weather. A cool 35 when we got to the turnout and around upper 60's tee shirt time all the rest of the day. We left around 4.30. I eyed that big rockfall across the river and thought about rockfall a few times. Nobody was climbing at all till later when a few locals showed. You better get up there!

Perhaps new teeth fell into the maw seen below gumming its food.

I thought that those upper 2 pitches of Superslide were nice but the lower pitches were dirty chossy and kind of took away from the fun.

I was on After Seven/Six on Wednesday. Beautiful day. A few times throughout the day I heard sounds which to me sounded like rock fall. I heard it 2 or 3 times. Sounded really eerie but I couldnt ever see anything. Weird. I have no idea what else the sound could have been. Maybe construction but I dont know.

I was over near Curry and randomly looking across the valley and saw the rockfall. Pretty terrifying to see multiple truck size blocks pop off, even from across the valley. Valet said one car in the lot took a microwave size block through the windshield but no injuries.

Guess thats what you get for such nice weather in January.

I wonder if they'll have to move the Ahwahnee?

Any more info on the location of this? My bf did a new route to the rim left of Superslide last fall and is curious to know if it's still there.

I'll be jiggered. I guess that picture I posted is Trial by Fire. According to Ian, the only one of us who consulted a guide, it was "an alternate start to Super Slide, 5.8."
