My name is Nick, I´m from Brazil. I got this e-mail from Dave´s MOM last night. He sent, a new line on Cerro Escudo. Just wanna share with you all. Thank´s Alard for the good news. Peace. Proud of you Dave. Nick

Hi My name is Alard and i am from South Africa. we have spent the last 2 weeks climbing up in the park and have been chatting to Dave every day. It has been great watching him climb this massive wall, by himself. respect!!

THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT HE SUMMITED YESTERDAY!!!!!! In Glorious weather. He did the last pitch yesterday and then went for the summit and got very sunburnt!!!! I spoke to dave this morning at 9 am and he was in great spirit, very excited and very positive. He was starting his descent this morning and estimates that it would take him 2 days to get down, and then another week to carry his gear out. he has spent 34 days on the wall, and he said the climbing was up to grade A4+

We wished him happy 26 birthday a few days ago. He was chuffed to spend christmas, new year and his birthday on the wall. He told us about the christmas plans that he and you had dinner at the same time and were thinking of each other.

Daves words this morning were" I have just fullfilled a life long dream, to climb a huge wall like this solo"

Dave asked me to send a message to his mom and his sister and to tell them that he was safe and on his way down.

It was very inspiring to watch him cilmb and to chat to him every day, as he was always so positive and fun to talk too. WE were all holding 'thumbs' for him. The South African team congradulate him and wish him all the best for any future climbs. Pls get him to send a photo of him with his autography, as we have much to tell our south african climbers. Goooooooo Dave.

"Progress in technique, training, and equipment had made the climber too efficient; as in many another field, technique was in the process of killing adventure. For those who sought to define their own nature in the combat of man against the mountain there would soon be no solution but the desperate ways of the solo climber and the winter mountaineer." Lionel Terray, Conquistadors of the Useless

Proud effort, Dave! Get down safe for show and tell.
