With all this talk of the new Casino being developed outside of JTNP, I felt I should mention another big development.....

The Indian Cove Market is well on it's way to being rebuilt. A newly constructed 2200 sq ft local store at the corner of Hwy 62 & Indian Cove Rd.

Yes folks, that's right. Grab your Gatorade, Tuna Snacks and condoms right on your way into the park.

With any luck they'll stock the following....

Half and Half
Beer
Foo-Foo Mix
Sailor Jerry's
Block Cheese
Chips
Chalk
Tape

Exciting!!

Apparently, the old Indian Cove Market operated from 1964 to 1999 and at one time even had gas pumps (tanks removed in 1998).

The new owners purchased the land/building in 4/04 and applied for their building permit this past spring.

They stripped the old building down to the foundation a few months ago and rebuilt from scratch. Funny how the wording on the building permit is for a 2200 sq ft addition. (that's an understatement). Probably one of those situations when it was easier to just start from scratch.

Liquor sales was mentioned in another city council meeting but I haven't seen the posted public hearing sigh yet.

Anyhoo, this will be great and super convenient for the residents and people going into the park.

Taxes and fees were lower in CA.(many places) if you remodel . Take a sh#t shack at the beach prop up ten feet of interior wall and remove and rebuild everything else including foundation. New building old tax base , did a lot of remodels that way long ago.

Mr Carlos is right.

I'm fixing to re-model (bring up to *code*) my little cracker-box. As long as I leave at least one original 4x4 standing vertical I won't have to f*#k around with the permits, fees, and taxes I would if I leveled the whole joint (which is essentially what's going to happen).

Update - the market opened a few weeks ago and it's better than we could have imagined!! The owners are making improvements and additions daily!!!

The market is privately owned and currently open from 7am to 8pm, 7 days a week.

Generally speaking the prices are very reasonable and on par with what the regular grocery has.

So, if you're looking for.....

 Ice
 Beer
 Hard-booze
 Staples (bread, can goods, salsa)
 FRESH Fruit & Veggies
 Bulk Nuts
 Hand-scooped ice cream
 Bulk candy
 Half and Half
 Deli meats & cheeses
 Firewood
 Energy drinks

They also have a deli station for hand made sandwiches & salads.

Support our local economy and visit the Indian Cove Market!!
