There is no way to express the loss of my best friend from Brazil......

Yesterday morning Roberta Nunes and Sean Leary were driving to Utah when they were involved in a terrible car accident. While Roberta was driving, she encountered a sharp turn and rolled the truck by accident. After serious head & neck injuries she was taken to the Provo Hospital where she passed away. My heart goes out to her, her family and of course her friends who loved her as much as I. Roberta is my sister, although not by blood, but even deeper. I will never forget her, as none of you will. Sean has survived the accident with minor injuries and is heartbroken by all of this. He has asked to direct all calls and e-mails to me for the next few days while he is trying to get things in perspective and trying to make arrangements to bring her body home to her family. If you want any further detals please contact me, I will be trying to get as much information as I can from Sean & his family. Please send your thoughts, wishes and prayers to Sean, his family and Roberta's family through this terrible time.

Friends are what will get all of us through this, and it also reminds us of just how precious a life can be. Roberta has always taught me to live my life to the fullest, to laugh and laugh and that life is what you make it, and not to waste it. I will never forget her.

I love you Roberta, always. Jenny

Jenn,
I'm so sorry to hear this sad news. I didn't know Roberta, but my heart goes out to all her friends and family.
Does Sean need any help locally? I know Sean, he is a Yosemite friend, and my family lives in Provo. I'll call you in the morning to see if they can help in any way.

Thanks, I'll need help. In advance I would like people to also start thinking of a fund that we can get together to help cover the costs of returning her back to Brazil. I will make the arrangements if needed. Please email me if you would like to help in any way. Again, I am sorry guys. jk

Hopefully it's OK to borrow Al Dude's image from the Uber-thread.

I don't know what to say. I ran into Roberta at the Mobil Station near 395 on Monday evening. She told me about their travel plans to drive east from there. I told her I was lucky to be the last to see her on her way out...

She was, and I'm sure is, a very special being. I'm so sorry for the loss for our community, for Sean, and Jenn.

Peace

Russ & I met Roberta on our recent trip to the Valley. She was an extremely nice and personable girl.

What a terrible loss for the family, friends, climbing community and world as a whole.

Rest in peace Roberta you will only be more beautiful with wings.

I am in the process with the help from Marci of getting a fund set up in the park for Roberta's family to help the costs of bringing her back home to them in Brazil. I also will be trying to organize a memorial service for her and will let you all know as soon as I can where and when it will be held. Please feel free to prepare anything you would like to say at the service, whether it is a story about how you met her, or an adventure you may have experienced with her or a poem...it would be nice to hear from eachother. I also would like anyone who has some photos of her with her friends to share. If anyone else can think of ways to help, please contact me as soon as possible. I am working until Friday, but will be checking email & messages often. jk
