Roy,
Hey, is that "Tonic Boom"? Any word on a repeat. Mussy'd probably say we're all "15 years and a real lead head away from getting a flapper" on it, but it sure looks cool.

Yes it is Tonic Boom.

I retro ya -dig that- retro bolted Rainy Day Dream Away, finished that route independent of it's original line, adding quite a bit of climbing out left. It certainly hadn't been lead free with the rurp that was in situ. If I had to guess, Mike Waugh probably chopped that bolt or two a few years ago...

Meanwhile, Mussy worked out Tonic Boom, to join my finish on Rainy Day. It had a wicked dyno to a weird wide jam, maybe even involving a thumb extension. Thus, a high flapper potential.

After all the hulla-baloo-bious that rap bolters say regarding bolt placement working out better on rappel, most people say one of my upper bolts required them to be all crossed up when clipping it!

I don't know anything about repeats; Satanic Mechanic is "my" route, rap placed, and I never really lead it, or at least not the first ascent, Doug Macdonald did that. He was appauled at how little I cared - I would get bored. 'Just not the same as punchin' it in from the bottom, eh?

bwahahahah...

Love the underwear blowing in the wind from the old rurp. I remember Waugh was going to kick your ass... hey, he is only a couple of threads over, lets invite him in. And who placed those bolts you glory lead hog???? Get VanGina on the blower pronto to set this tale back up on its hind legs.

sorry about the size of the picture but the original wasn't too good so I thought it needed to be enlarged to ID the guilty parties.

you're right Russ, No way it's either of those two jokers. But here's a clue, the top monkey always seemed to have a plethora of sub-men hanging around him.

OK, I know the answer to Beeb's lingering, former-thread, question, and even though I was not a Scum Bag (TM), I think I have to disqualify myself because it's my home crag. I note that there is no rope. That is core, if I'm using that term correctly.

And Pat, I wouldn't know the answer to your Woodson question if I didn't have a certain volume in my collection that I actually still use often. So I'll keep mum.

Tar: You want butter on that? Or just salt?

Tarbuster, yea I remember that guy with the worn out hiking boots, he did pretty good in them. There was also those guys who wore construction boots, they did all the problems on the Pink Floyd boulder in them. Lechlinski refered to them as the "Big boot boys"

JV - the top rope is just not visible, it would be most notable to highball that line. I was figuring either you or Klimmer would be the person to knock that one out of the park, unless Watusi finally shows up. It's rather more obscure than Beeb is letting on and local knowledge will prove very helpful.

In Nay's Woodson Tandem, Terry Ayres "Air Dale" on the bottom?
Kurt Smith on Top!

Vawter, lots a butter and too much salt please...
'Knew you'd bag the Watkins 1st Pitch "name that route" all too quickly, thanks for stepping out to get munchies.

Waitaminute, maybe ya better just name the old school woodson highball bride upthread, so we can move on and you can get off the sidelines, ringer or not!
