You can't see Grack Marginal even when you are ON Grack Marginal!

I thought all those rumors of Curry-killing rockfalls had scared all but a very few off the Apron. I guess, since it's one of the best areas in the Valley, you can't keep a good spot down.

Sign of the times; waiting in line for three hours to get on a so so climb- the herd instinct is alive and well.

I know, Jim. Just amazing. And right in that area, namely the Apron, it is just riddled with routes of that grade.

Those two folks in the pic have enough baggage to do the Nose OLD-OLD style! What does that route need? For a competent 5.7 leader maybe three-five nuts and a couple of runners? Even if you wanted to sew it up I think 10 nuts would make it a veritable ladder.

Oh well... as long as they had fun.

Yeah, the commercial climbers - guidebook writers, climbing guides, clubs, and manufacturers - have a lot to answer for. Good thing we're all innocent, eh Jim?

Peter: Nice photo. Way closer-up than the ones that Tom posts - I guess he likes it down at the bridge.

To the contrary MH- with the plethora of info. now available you would think that climbers would range farther afield. It has more to do with the human instinct to cluster together as if there were still Sabertooth Tigers around the corner ready to pounce.

First off, Donini, that is "au contraire", for craps sake.

Next, Plastichater, you are SO right, Squishy the Original Poster, obviously got his slide flipped backwards.

Mighty Anders, Tom Evans is gone for the season as of yestereday and so all hell will cut loose.

Here we are Pilgrims, all better:
