My top 5 I listen to:
1.) The bugle: just funny.
2.) All songs considered: Bob Boilen has a good tatse in music
3.) Never not funny: Jimmy pardo is the best and has great gests
4.) Sound Opinions: interesting music news
5.) I love movies: Doug Benson can be funny

I like listening to these shows since there is nothing worth listening to on the radio anymore. What's your favs and why?

Bill Moyers- he brings a quiet rationality to the din and noise of other political media voices.

I heard Adam Corolla lost his gig as an AM DJ, and has a car-oriented podcast- anybody heard it? Is it worth the time?

apogee,
Adam's podcast is cool. It's a little unpolished but it's also a lot more entertaining becuase no fcc.

C...OS,

does lake wobegon still feature Bob's Bank, where the motto is "neither a borrower nor lender be?" or was it swallowed up by an uber bank.
peter schiff has got the political response to current econonomic follies all laid out, though i'm not such a freemarket absolutist.

on an earlier post i described my first effort to down load a podcast and 175 science fridays landed on my hard drive. still chewing through those.

recommend on point with tom ashbrook, my hero on how to conduct oneself in the role of moderator

Anybody got a link to Adam Carolla's podcast? It's not on Itunes, and the links in a Google search won't seem to open...

bump for "This American Life". truly outstanding. i especially like episode #346: "Home Alone" which first aired 11/14/08

i found all three stories in that week's hour jaw dropping. i was especially haunted by the first of the three. who would have imagined that the ashes of nearly 2,000 souls are buried, anonymously and in a single hole, by LA county (alone) each year. multiply that out by the rest of a nation and, wow.

next time the suits send me to that 'there', i plan to go to Evergreen Cemetery and see the rows of small yearly anonymous sites. perhaps bring some prayer flags from rowaling, perhaps some flowers, but mostly just show up...

if you go to
http://www.thisamericanlife.org/Radio_Episode.aspx?sched=1270
you can listen to the full hour program via any Adobe Flash player, gratis. click on "Full Episode" below the small graphic. there is also a link to Ira Glass' own picks of the best shows.

didn't know you could watch This American Life (until Josh mentioned it, just above). me, i'd rather not. i much prefer radio as i much prefer to close my eyes and supply my own pictures.
~~~
i myself also really enjoy the BBC programme (sic) "My Word". Denis Norden is pee pants funny. i catch it weekly via KALW in SF (regardless of where i'm at, which varies weekly) via the internerd-ette. don't know how one might get the podcast (for three points, define "Luddite"...) i've been following it for years -- keeps the juices flowing. i suspect that it is by and for english majors. stunned when i learned a few months ago that the last show was recorded in like 1990. huh... well, another reason i prefer just audio, it's "unstuck in time". as am i.
^,,^
(gonna go check out Largo's podcasts, as noted above, just now)
This American Life as many have noted. Great stories. I listen to them in the car on road trips.
Speaking of Faith with Krista Tippett
The Loh Life with Sandra Tsing Loh
The Splendid Table with Lynne Rosetto King
KCRW's Left, Right and Center
I just heard about Adam Carolla's podcasts and definitely need to check them out.
