I recently sent an email thanking the Chinese National Mountaineering association for its help with the search for Jonny Copp, Micah Dash, and Wade Johnson.

Here's the reply I got back which indicates a wish for further exchanges on mountain rescue. This seems like something that has to come from the American Alpine club or individual SAR groups. Can someone follow up on this please?

I know the Sherpas in Nepal are very happy with the training they have received from western climbers, saying it is the single biggest contribution to the lowering of their fatality rate. Why not expand on this good work?

Thanks for the mail.

We are very sorry to see the tragedy happen, please accept our deep condolence. Chinese Mountaineerin Associaton paid a lots attention on this searching activity, we sent the team led by our best Chinese climber Mr.Wang Yongfeng to do this job.
We sincerely hope we can strength the relation between Chinese and American climbers, and we can do some exchange on Mountain rescue.

Very nice Jan!

I hope we can take advantage of an opportunity like this.

Too often, windows close before the good work is done.

Man, the Yosar boys could show them a few things!

Thanks for the reference. I will forward it on to the Chinese. About all I can do is be the intermediary since I live in Japan.

Jan,

So much more a worthy cause than much of the nonsense we engage in around here.

Thanks for the attention.
