Wondering how much snow is still at the base of Crystal Crag and Dike Wall (well, how big the snowpile is still on the North side of the Dike Wall)...thanks!

if nobody else replies this may help:

was up there almost a month ago and it looked like it had about two warm weeks left in it, three on the sheltered exposures (N & E).

i was there a week and 1/2 ago and dike wall didn't look in shape, at least not when we could see it between the hail, snow and rain.

crystal looked fine, altho the snow up to it was not the best. the closest we got was an hour session at the horseshoe boulder before the storms closed back in.

You'll have no problem in mid July.
Are you the same Crusher that used to live in Boulder?

No Chez,

He's still there I think...I'm a different Crusher...

Yeah normally by mid July you'd think so but it's been a late snow year (see the Chief's thread re. the Palisades) and I've only been getting to Bishop this Spring, not all the way to Mammoth.

Thanks.

Huge snow bank on the north side of the Dike Wall. You could probably climb on the East face but I bet most of the routes are still dripping.

Yeah...I know. We were supposed to be up there this last weekend and wound up staying home.

We ran into JB a few months ago in the Gorge, happily climbing at the Pub Wall, shared a few kind words...we were so shocked and saddened to hear this news last night. I immediately thought about his answering me on my thread. Also of all the times over the years we'd come upon him soloing (or not) at Clark or in the Gorge - always an awe-inspiring sight. I'm still having a hard time believing this, I guess as we all are.

Condolences to Tyrus and all of his other family members and friends.
