Has anyone ever climbed in a party of 3 and been forced to spend the night everyone(3 people) on a 2 man portaledge? I know all 3 would have to be sitting upright, couldn't be very comfortable, maybe similar to sleeping in economy?

oh come on snuggle. it'll be cozy and bring the team together.
we slept 5 in a 3 man tent in a winter ascent of the presidential traverse (nh) as some dad we met in a restaurant embaressed his children "like we used to say in the 60's, sleeps four, f*#ks eight."

I've done it, and it sucks. we slept laying down, and the middle person got squashed because the two side people slide inwards all night. it's do-able, though.

Want to borrow a Hammock Studly? I got one with beer coozies, spreader bars, and fly. Helped design it, never used it. It would be way easier than the threesome!

Usually if you look around you can find an additional place. It may require chopping some ice or moving some rocks around. Is that helpful?

How 'bout two guys standing on a 5" ledge all night hugging each other inside a 2-man bivy sack while it snowed?
