Head out to Cayucus, or head to San Simeon's Hearst Castle, or Cambria a quaint little beach town. Also Harmony (pop of 18 people) had a really cool glass blowing shop.

Head south a little past SLO.
Go tidepooling at Montana De Oro State Park, then take your sweetie to Sycamore Hot Springs.

like wine? some great wineries around Paso. Some of my favorites: Adelaida, Dover Canyon, Opolo, Caparone, Pipestone. Backroads biking/driving on the westside is pretty sweet.

breakfast at the Beef Palace in Templeton (just south of Paso) is an experience.

Pinnacles

hope this cooler weather holds...it can get cooking in Paso! If so definitely hit the coast for a cool down.

ditto on Montana de Oro (~1hr from Paso though) Great trails, beaches, tidepooling, surfing. Rent kayaks and paddle Morro Bay out to the sandspit.

farmers market in downtown SLO is cool, I think it's tuesday, maybe do a search. good bars down there, frog and peach is a good pub. the library if you want to drink cheap gasoline.

Morro bay is cool, eat some clam chowder, drive out to the rock and watch the surfers.

good wineries in paso robles.

Hearst Castle in san simeon, maybe an hour north? Totally worth it, I think tours are like 12 or 15 bucks? maybe drive home up the 1?

San Simeon has Nitt Witt's castle, weird guy who built a rival castle by himself out of junk.

good beaches in nearby morro bay, cayucos and Pismo. Pismo pier might be fun.

Adam knows wassup, Try Hwy 46 west, there are wineries Galore.
Try dinner at Robins in cambria, or the west End Grill for more casual fair.
For cragin, Theres also Mavericks up off of Fort Hunter Liggett, Bishops Peak in SLO, or Cerro Cabrillo down by Morro Bay (Also known as the Quarry).
Morro's knot bad for eat and drick as well, espescially if you dig seafood.
The whole Central coast is a blast just to explore.
Have FUN!

I haven't camped in Paso proper, but Cerro Alto campground between Atascadero and Morro Bay is nice and relative cool for not being on the coast. Nice hike out of there too. (1/2 hr? from Paso) If it's hot and you want mellow camping the "environmental sites" in Montana de Oro are nice. 1/4 mile or less hike in, probably no one else, and beautiful ocean views. Straightforward car camping there as well, and at Morro Bay State Park too.

SLO farmers market is on Thursday nights downtown (can't miss it) and a good time for sure (not just for buying fruit).

Stay to the coast. Pinnacles is warming up, so check the weather if you go there.

I'll second Cambria and the rest of the area.

spent a long afternoon and over night there a couple of weeks ago. there's a great candy store on the south east side of the town square, and an excellent sushi/Japanese food restaurant located in the train depot shops (be prepared for the wait, it's really popular and worth the wait). we cruised around the town square shops and restaurants. was told that the italian one located a block or so the the north was good, and the posted menue seemed to support that, but we didn't eat there. also about a half a block north of the town square was a really cool place called "Weolive." it has all sorts of olive oils, some locally produced, and some imported. yuo can sample the oil, as well as taste different olives. yummy! (btw, the name is derived from the statement: you live, i live, we all live: weolive. cute).

I'll post more later cuz i'm in a hurry.

You here on the weekend or during the week?

Mavericks is amazing! Fallen off it a ton.

Jody Langford amazing photo (as always).

Addition:

Climbing is in SLO/Bishop Peak, Coastal Cabrillo Peak, Inland (Can be scorching) Wagon Caves. Pinnacles NM is a 1.25 hour drive back to the north (can be scorching too).

Wine. I don't drink but I hear that it is the good stuff around here. 200 wineries in the North SLO county is word on the street. Drive around. You CAN NOT miss them. I built the sign for Eagle Castle out on the 46 west.

Thursday night is the Farmers Market in SLO. Really cool. Starts at 6pm I think.

Paso Downtown is small but cool. Centered around the park. Movie theater, bars, and a ton of restaurants. All within walking distance.

Email me and I'll have you drop by the shop if you have time. It is two blocks from the downtown park. I am finishing up the first batch of Tomahawks this week.

those wineries in your hills are pretty nice. i even bought a bottle from Tablas Creek Vineyards... after 3 wine-sipping sessions we headed to Morro Bay and set up camp for the night.

next time i'll check out the climbing :)
