Here's two more from my series before I go to bed. I know I'm off subject now, regarding Sierra climbers, but oh well....

Jim Whittaker and Thomas Hornbein were both on the 1963 American Everest Expedition. As most everyone on this forum knows, Whittaker was the first American to summit Everest, and Hornbein, along with Willi Unsoeld, did the first ascent of the much more difficult West Ridge. Hornbein is seen here wearing one of the original oxygen masks from the '63 expedition, which he designed.
