yah! saw kottke in 1973 before he had become a big name. Maybe 40 people in the room. The armadillo album was a growing legend among finger-picking guitarist. I wore the grooves off my first copy listening over and over and over again trying to figure out what he was doing. Rings is a great later tune from him.

Great tap-noodlers!

One of my all-time favorites who brought his own funky mix of rag, flamenco, classical and rock under one guise was Steve Howe of Yes. I always dug his adapted “thrash” style of picking with a regular flat pick and two fingers.

Another great noodler is Phil Keaggy:

And of course I can’t have any acoustic noodler post without the late Michael Hedges;

Steve Howe IS great. Here's a good little peek at his pick + fingers style:

But he doesn't always do that:

Now, that's all well and good, but here's my idea of some serious right-hand finger-dancin' (some mighty fine left-hand action too):

Dehli Dog,
I have been known to pick. Been playing banjo for longer than I care to admit, and after an ankle break last July, I took up the wife's dobro (which she doesn't play - long story). Consequently, I've become a double-threat with the finger picks, and I got a new little band happenin' these last couple of months:

We're mostly doing alt-countryish stuff, but we're mixing it up. Semi-real gig on the deck at the Cottonwood a month from tomorrow (6/11). Come on out, say howdy, and let's make plans to pick some!
