The BATTLE ROYALE' has begun...

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama challenged the nation's vested interests to a legislative duel Saturday, saying he will fight to change health care, energy and education in dramatic ways that will upset the status quo.

"The system we have now might work for the powerful and well-connected interests that have run Washington for far too long," Obama said in his weekly radio and video address. "But I don't. I work for the American people."

This is what i am talking about! Power by the people and for the people. Not for Corporate America at the cost of everyone else!!!

Roll up your sleeves folks, it's time to back him up and continue to put the pressure on our congress and senate to change/fix the system. this will not happen over night and it will not be easy, but it's time to change what President Dwight D Eisenhower feared:
The takeover of our govt and power by the industrialized military/corporate/media/greed complex!

If we keep speaking up they will have to listen and the Republicans will have to fall in line @ some point! This is a rare opportunity to make a difference and make the changes that we so desperately need!!!!

this is my call to arms (since you won't listen to the mt top mining posts!!!) to rally the troops and start to repair our country!!!

This is my "clash of civilizations thread"!!!!
This is my Battle Royale' !!!!!!!

Obama vs.Banks that hold the controlling stock in the Federal Reserve Corporation:

Rothschild Banks of London and Berlin, Lazard Brothers Bank of Paris, Israel Moses Sieff Banks of Italy,Warburg Bank of Hamburg and Amsterdam, Lehman Brothers Bank of New York, Kuhn Loeb Bank of New York, Chase Manhattan Bank of New York, Goldman Sachs Bank of New York.

Gee, I wonder who will win?

The Kid,
Hang in there Kid; we need a little humor now and then; or, you're serious and have no idea whatsoever how Washington functions.

The President must focus on the economy only at this point. If his stimulus package fails, you can kiss off all the other initiatives, dreams and fantasies.

At this point, I'm pesimistic. He screwed up by allowing congress to run wild and stuff the legislation with needless pork that has little or no effect on the immediate problem. I attribute this to his lack of experience in how to manage the legislative process. He's also spreading himself too thin across the board in a rush to achieve too much too soon. Further, he must get control of some of his agenda driven fanatics who think now is the time to start a push on anti-gun legislation etc. that will cause a significant backlash when he needs it least. He must, and I hope he does, focus on the Tyrannosaurus in the corner.

Oh, I'll take care of the obligatory Bush bash to save some of you the time: Bush screwed up; the Reps lost their greedy minds. All true.

Chaz is correct: the Reps took control of the government and immediately were infected by that old, classical malady called hubris. The Dems are now feeling their oats and falling into the same error. Obama must reign them in before they go wild and destroy their opportunity and his effectiveness as president. There is a finite amount of energy that exist to accomplish an administration's goals. To disperse that energy over too broad a political field is counter productive. He must focus on the economy and fight other battles in the future when and if the economy grows in strength. If he fails with the economy, all the rest goes to dust; and the Dems will suffer significantly at the polls in the next election.

if you never try you never succeed.
Just the fact that he is looking to shake up the establishment gives me hope that maybe, just maybe over time we can get it done.

I have not seen or heard anything about anybody taking away your guns. Unless you are talking about assault weapons- and with that one i have to agree~!! I'm pretty sure you don;'t need an ak47 to deer hunt!

i for one will not fall into the trap of: oh it's too hard, the lobbyist too strong, the govt too corrupt to make change. give the guy a chance, he has only been in office one month and he has done more to stir the pot, and send the message that there is new sheriff in town!!!

So naysayers, keep your head in the sand, me i will keep my finger on speed dial to my senator and congressman.

Love the new words! The last as#@&%es just did it their way: lets coin them "BORROW AND SPEND REPUBLICANS. Which as you know, is different and actually less fiscally prudent than the tax and spend Democrats. BTW, feel free to toss some sh#t on me as I did vote for the BORROW AND SPEND REPUBLICANS the first time rather than the spawn of a traitor: Al Gore. Unlike many, I had become wiser by the 2nd election.

I'll take a fiscal conservative like Bill Clinton over any Borrow and Spend Republican anyday. Barak has pledged to refuse the deficit by 2/3s. That's better than the last group. Woody, you and I see alike on many things: you need to remember that the "$700 billion dollar bailout was a Bush Headline that Obama inherited and had to implement.

Where were you small government guys during the last eight years? I don't remember a single Republican complaining (except Ron Paul or maybe Barr) while Bu$h was spending money like a drunken sailor.

Seems like the pot is calling the kettle black.

good thing you don't have to convince any of these geezers posting up in this thread kurt. after all, they spent their whole adult lives watching 'the system" get built and entrenched.

You can hunt deer with an AK.

Wouldn't be my first choice, but I could bring home a deer using one.

This is for Woody as he'd argue against that AK rifle restriction post, it's not about "HUNTING", gun freedom and the 2nd amendment clause is about political freedom.

"Judge Alex Kozinski, a Jewish refugee from Eastern Europe, said it best in his dissent in Silveira v. Lockyer:

"The prospect of tyranny may not grab the headlines the way vivid stories of gun crime routinely do. But few saw the Third Reich coming until it was too late. The Second Amendment is a doomsday provision, one designed for those exceptionally rare circumstances where all other rights have failed—where the government refuses to stand for reelection and silences those who protest; where courts have lost the courage to oppose, or can find no one to enforce their decrees. However improbable these contingencies may seem today, facing them unprepared is a mistake a free people get to make only once."

Where have you been? Most of us were calling Bush a fiscal socilaist. Especially in his second term.
