We left for the valley yesterday morning, (Thursday) in hopes of getting some sunny rock. We ended up at the Pat and Jack and hiked through about 4 inches of snow to the rock, where we did a climb on the right side. Sun lasted while we climbed and enjoyed a nice kinda warm day. Just before we rapped off it started snowing. We didn’t think we were going to climb at all but we did. Goes to show you can climb all year round in the valley! Enjoy………………..

Hey Russ, Your right about the dude in the pic, it is Larry Zulim, who just turned 60 last Sunday. He's the guy on the slack chain picture from the Yosemite Climber book, for those who keep track of the golden age bunch. He still has no problem leading 10d crack !! He goes to the Valley every week and I enjoy going along when I can for sure!!

Wow! I thought so! I was just talking about him like two days ago over here with Jim Shimberg.... Larry is a great guy! Good to hear he is still active.

A color version of the George Myers photo of Larry on the chain just appeared in the most recent Mountain Gear - "Vertical Summer" catalog. Page 36, full page photo. "Before the slack line, there was the slack chain. An unknown climber works on his balance at Camp 4, Yosemite Valley, Calif., in the mid '70s."

Was not there a fairly recent long thread discussing this valley character? I was going to post this on that thread, but can't find it. Did he get it pulled?
