I was thinking about that too dingus, it's cool, but I wish there was a 'better way' to study it...

I wonder how many years/generations of ants and queens it took to make that colony so large...

Researching things by destroying them seems to be human nature. It doesn't make you bad in the same way that a tiger eating an antelope is not bad. Just nature and instinct. We are not really above our animal nature are we. Plus, how cool is that thing?! That's impressive.

Haven't humans been covered in dirt (or ash) buried alive like insects? If there is karma, it will happen again.
