They allegedly had AK47s and other weapons.
Practiced their techniques in Pocono's at a paintball place.
Too bad they were caught.
They are only getting prison time.

Is that a sarcastic too bad or, uh, some other kind of too bad?
Were the AKs modded to shoot paintballs?

That's nice, now they can spend their life-sentences in jail indoctrinating 'short-timers' to carry out 'Allah's will' against infidels.
Edit: Or at least bury 'em with a real leather football (pigskin). Every read "Teeth of the Tiger" by Clancy?

I'm waiting for details about how real this was. Seems like sometimes the feds informants cook up a more real plot than really existed, like those friggin' Liquid explosive bombers who didn't have any Liquid explosives nor knowledge of them

Like I said....
FBI should have waited.
Paint-ballers assault Fort Dix! Maybe they would have done it on Halloween for War of the Worlds II.
If they held out long enough, maybe CNN would have it got it on video.
Now the poor schmucks don't even get any virgins, though they might soon be somebody's virgin.

I live in the Poconos. Around here, those people would seem normal - shooting guns constantly. Scary. I feel safe where I live because of my neighbors and their incredible aim. Now I am armed too so if someone comes breaking in, I'm coming out shooting.

Cross posting from the "clashxxxwhatever" thread.
You convinently skiped over how it all started.
"I think they were in the last stage of planning," then-U.S. Attorney Christopher Christie said at the time of their arrest. "They had training, they had maps, and I think they were very close to moving on this." He added: "This is what law enforcement is supposed to do in the post-9/11 era -- stay one step ahead of those who are attempting to cause harm to innocent American citizens."
The investigation began after a clerk at a Circuit City store told the FBI that some customers had asked him to transfer onto DVD some video footage of them firing assault weapons and screaming about jihad.
The opperative fact is the tip from the clerk came first. The offers to the imformants came as a development of the case, not its origination.
The intent was clearly already there.
The "Black Jack" treatment clearly called for.

From the link above
"Defense attorneys dismissed the government’s evidence that the group discussed attacking military facilities as “conversational ramblings” of young men.
“Much of the evidence in this case comes from the fantasy world” of Shnewer and other members of the group, said Michael Huff, an attorney for Dritan Duka.
Cipparone targeted government informant Mahmoud Omar, a convicted felon paid almost $240,000 by the FBI to infiltrate the group, as the instigator of the men’s jihadist leanings.
Omar “pushed and pushed” Shnewer to make incriminating comments about attacking U.S. bases, Cipparone told jurors. Still, “Omar the manipulator” wasn’t able to get Shnewer or the others to carry out the attacks, he said."
$240,000!! How many police undercover officers get that? Why the need to push the conspirators?
Still seems to me like an informant trying to convince boy scouts to stage a panty raid and then, after they get kinda worked up about it, charging them with a sex crime. The government love to report foiled terrorism but never seems to have a very convincing case that the plots were very serious or real.
You can find all kinds of gun nuts talking about how the government could be brought down on the net. People get pissed up and like to visualize sh#t, but doing is another story.
Peace

From the website, it appears that Fort Dix would be very low on the list of potential terrorist targets, at least if the 'terrorists' are armed with nothing more than assault rifles and maybe home-made bombs. In fact, it wouldn't be on the list at all. Attackers without heavy weapons and military training probably wouldn't get past the base perimeter, if that. http://www.dix.army.mil/
Sounds like mostly hot air from some angry, foolish young men, possibly helped by an agent provocateur. Assuming that the goal of terrorism is to sow terror, there are much more realistic and higher-value targets.

Even if they were just kidding...which they most likely were not, it's a pretty good bet that few people will get the joke when your target is a military base less than a hundred miles from where the twin towers got bombed.
Even if Ft Dix isnt a high profile target that just means that they wouldnt have gotten far- maybe only a few casualties. I would say saving a few lives warrants locking up some a-holes like this just as much as saving even a few lives warrants pulling the troops out of Iraq.

If this had been a bunch of redneck "good ole boys" braging about "killin all them queers" caught on tape and then with a subsequent case developed with paid informants,
the calls for blood would be incessant.
But, since they were threatening patriots that serve their nation,
they were railroaded.
give me a break!

TGT. this kind of stuff happens all the time. The Klan and Right Wing government haters in Idaho train for sh#t all the time. The government doesn't hire people to talk em into making actual plans that still don't materialize
