Here's a link that shows where the Sesnon fire is and could go (and also the Marek fire out near Pacoima/Sylmar) - Stoney Point could get it...

http://www.fire.lacounty.gov/

Let's hope the Sesnon fire doesn't spread across the Ventura Fwy. and into Calabasas/Malibu also - it's all scorching dry and overgrown. Everyone stay safe.

It took my 2 hrs to drive home. It usually takes 20 min with the 118 open. My Mom told me that Stoney did burn. She heard it on the news.

Hello Everybody, well....Since I live in Chatsworth and I visit Stoney Point on a regular basis I was concerned with the day's events. I knew of and observed the Porter Ranch Fire as it advanced toward Stoney...my friend Cole had texted and had asked me if "Is Stoney on Fire"? Tonight I went over to Stoney and went on a hike with Guyzo after a Margarita at Los Toros...Stoney had been torched. Burned amost completely around except for the south end..There were numerous small fires still burnng as we traversed around The Point. The place looked new to me...I have never seen it like it is now..rock formations visible from out of nowhere...Well Guy called it a "Haircut". I know it will grow back...Fire Sucks.

Dirving to work today I noticed from the 118 that Stoney did in fact burn. Happy Days.

No brush to land on? No poison oak? I am so happy! Stoney Point did need a good burning. It might even clean up some of the graffiti! Plus, as an old regular once explained to me after a similar episode, "there will be new boulder problems!"
Now the question is... How are the homes doing?

I just drove by and saw it too.

Bar-B-Que City.

Sorry Anastasia- Unfortunately fires tend to make the poison oak more prolific. Next summer should be a joy.

Is the fire still burning?Don't have television to watch the news. Would be coming from L.A. Zoo after work. Was thinking of going to Stoney to boulder on friday, what are the conditions? Or should I wait for another day. Thank you Armando

neebee-
All freeways in So Cal are 300 lanes wide.

At least we'll be able to see the broken glass before we fall on it.

Fire Burned all the Brush. From the 118 it looks fantastic.
It burned all the way up to the summit from the North.

Hey...
Stoney might not be the greatest place to climb, but it was Kamp's corner! He was one of those special people that only come once every hundred years. Therefore, Stoney is by association a very special place.
To this day it still produces good climbers. If you can climb hard at Stoney, you can smear, edge and are naturally not afraid of highball problems. It is not a bad place to learn and graduate from...
