This year I produced some calendars and hard cover photo books. I originally intended the books to be portfolio examples to sell prints with and for holiday gifts to some friends and family. I was surprised then when people who saw them loved them and wanted one.

So I’ve decided to offer them to folks here who are interested. I could make this simple and say you can have a 23 page hard cover photo book for $25 shipped or a 30 page hard cover photo book for $30 shipped. Calendars are $30 shipped as well. (anywhere in the world) For some of these items, that would be pretty close to my cost but the printer is always offering some deals that put a fair profit in it for me. The 30 page books have some images from around the world but the 23 page one is almost all Yosemite. I can do a 30 page on Yosemite as well.

If you want your books or calendars signed, it’ll cost you an extra $8, because I’ll have to reship it instead of mailing it from the printer to you. Let me know what you’d like me to write (only certain folks here can demand “Go McCain palin”)

Here’s where it gets complicated. I can customize these calendars and books pretty easily. If you would like me to add any of your pictures, or any of the photos in my galleries at

www.printroom.com/pro/peaklight,

to your photobook, I can do it for a design set-up charge of $15 per page. You only have to pay this charge once. If you order more than one custom book or calendar, only the first one will have this charge. Folks who have climbed with me can get images of themselves climbing that I took included as well.

Just arrange to email me your full resolution image (unless I have it) and suggest a caption, or look through my galleries and tell me which image(s) you’d like included. (captioned as you’d like. If it’s El Cap, you can always caption it “Rock that scares me to death”)

I can do a lot of other custom things for the photo books but real complicated requests may entail an hourly design charge so email me with your inspiration.

You pay by mailing me a check, or use your credit card, go to www.paypal.com and sent the payment to peaklight@newsguy.com.

For the calendars, I can also put your own custom dates printed in the months. Remember your anniversary or when your partner hang-dogged on a climb you sent. Lots of room to be creative, but each entry will cost you $3. Just email me the dates and the entries you’d like. I can have the calendar start on any month of any year.

I’ll keep this spam chain letter moving by posting up pages of the book, a few a week, until the political season is over and random Yosemite photos won’t seem like such a welcome relief from other off topic slanderings.

Other thread bumping ideas: Post your own photobook ideas, or parodies.

Peace

Karl

(as always, if you have dirtbag credentials and need a price break, I can do at least something if you make your case)

The latest version has a greenish background for the pages with the month and dates. I can change that too.

Karl,

Nice pics!! please don't take this the wrong way, but there are a few people that use this Forum who also have products to sell the Climbing comnuity. Supertopo ie; Cmac sells AD space to a number of Climbing Company's, wouldn't it just be best to post a link to your site?

Hi Bullwinkle

I'm sure folks would rather you be spamming your calendar here than mine, (and you're welcome to join in and post some of your images and a link)

Dean's work is great and cheaper too (but you probably can't get custom nudes)

http://www.stonenudes.com/

Let me know if posting your link wasn't ok. I figure since you didn't do it, no foul

In this political season, let me be refreshingly candid and state that I'm not ethical enough to buy an ad, and at $5 or $10 bucks profit a shot for a very limited amount of sales, I couldn't afford to anyway.

If Chris Mac were to send me a warning however, I'd certainly delete the thread.

It's probably true that I consider this infraction to be somewhat within the range of "I'm among friends" leeway, but I promise to post a climbing trip report next week to make up for it. A friend and I did the second ascent a few days ago of a 13 pitch Grade 4 on North Dome, Nataraj (dancing shiva) 5.10b A0. Sweet route, by Dan Dingle and crew. I'll even cough up the topo and stuff.

edit: The truth is that I probably would have posted this sooner or later anyway, but was actually spurred into action when somebody else took it upon themselves to post up about it last week.

Note, there is no information on these books on my site. Haven't had a chance to update it.

This one is just in the 30 page book but anybody could request it free in a 23 page book (as an additional page for $4 extra)

hey there karl... say, these are very lovely and very striking and beautiful...

say, i can't afford to right now...
but:

i am curious who your printer is....

do they PRINT books, soft cover or hard?

i get my books printed from the lulu.com folks, and i was just wondering (in case i ever needed it) if there are other printers, as well, that do this.... for at least, an affordable price for authors...

just curious...

right now, i still print where i am, as this is a free-store set-up for me, the only kind i can afford.....

the profit is made, when and if, something sells... that is when they get their portion---thus, i can send it in for print, free, but DO pay for my own book...

please leave a small note here, or email me...
thanks so very much...

good wishes for your lovely project...
