http://www.themudflats.net/2008/09/26/mccain-camp-realizes-palin-is-clueless/
"Capitol Hill sources are telling me that senior McCain people are more than concerned about Palin. The campaign has held a mock debate and a mock press conference; both are being described as “disastrous.” One senior McCain aide was quoted as saying, “What are we going to do?” The McCain people want to move this first debate to some later, undetermined date, possibly never. People on the inside are saying the Alaska Governor is “clueless.”"
This is the beginning of the only thing that might save the McCain on Thursday...lowering expectations to be so low that when Palin comes off as "not a total disaster" that it looks like a win for her. This is what they did with Bush, and it's what they have to do with Palin.
Here are some talking points that I promise we will hear on Thursday and Friday after the debates:
"By all accounts Biden should have crushed Palin, but he didn't so this is a real win for her."
"The liberal blogosphere was all abuzz with how dumb and awful Palin was going to be but she proved herself to be able to hold her own against a seasoned Senator of 35 years."
Expect more and more leaks like this.

HDDJ, there was an entry today in the 538.com blog that suggests that unlike other debates where candidates should talk as much as possible, Biden should execise some restraint and let her talk and hang herself.

Palin, I love that woman.
"Our next-door neighbors are foreign countries."
A wizard with words.

dirt- yeah I think that's true. This Newsweek column says more or less the same thing. People expect Biden to be knowledgeable, so it's how he comes across that will be the most telling.

He also advises him to basically let Palin hang herself and to go after McCain.

It really doesn't matter how Palin performs in the debate. The people who rally around her don't care about substance.
