I just moved from Illinois to Anchorage and I left behind 14 boxes of climbing magazines dating back to about 1974. If someone wants to drive there and pick them up, you can have them. Postage turns out to be a lot--they can't go media rate because they contain advertising. I estimated first class postage on them to be 4 or 500 bucks.
Mostly R&I and Climbing. At least 2 boxes of Mountains. A bunch of Mountain Gazettes, etc.
The little hellhole from which I escaped is about 4 hours from Chicago, 3 from St Louis, 2 from Iowa City.
Lemme know--

I live nowhere near, but would love to investigate a less expensive altermnative. Instead of first class, isn't there like... train rate? Or something?
Anyway, I would enjoy filling out the collection... had 'em all once upon a time but a move to Europe meant I had to lighten the load. Never again... I have been rebuilding the library over the years and it will never again be "lightened!"

ihateplastic, you may be onto something. You can get reduced rates by using the bus (Greyhound) for freight, it works good for heavy boxes.
Another option might be to use a trucking line that has an account with a friendly business in your immediate area. Sometimes boxing up a bunch of magazines and shrink-wrapping them on a pallet is way cheap--you just have to have a few connections on both ends of the deal. Good luck, sounds like a great deal once you land them at your place.

Sorry Steelmonkey, they're all boxed up and ready to ship. An all or nothing deal at this point. My move was kind of rushed.

I am working on this problem and hope to have it solved today. My plan is that once they arrive I'll open up the grab bag and see who desires what.

Hey, you gotta be specific...!
Plus, I contacted the poster at 1:06pm on 25 September. And recieved a response back. Greg, I'll give you a copy of Stone Crusade hardback as consolation, ha ha. Maybe you can get it signed in a couple weeks...
I have a full run of Mountain, and, the issues of Climbing that I need are 7, 9 and 11 (my 11 is in bad shape), which was prior to this run.
I'd also be interested in the old Mountain Gazettes too.
Yeah, keep us posted on the dilly-o.
Cheers,

You got it, Macomb. About as bleak as it can get for a climber. It's in the rear-view now and I won't be looking back much.
