Any pics out there?
On a recent trip up Mt Conness, we were greeted with no wind!
But for a brief glorious minute, we soared:

no handy pics here, but I'll bust out a stunt kite or two over at Shoreline from time to time. Usually as a 'date' with my chica.

one of the geatest joys ive ever felt came from watching my daughter the first time she flew a kite. pure magic!
some time later (it was the day before the big fires down here last year) we were gettin jiggy in some crazy wind. ran out of kite string so i tied line from my fishing reel to the end of the kite string. it just went and went and went!!!

I got these shots of a couple guys on Cryptic using a kite to lift a pocket camera:
I never thought I ever would, but now I time my Joshua Tree visits around whether or not the wind's blowing.

I climbed to the top of Jockey's Ridge [big sand dune] in Nags Head NC and flew this 5m traction kite. I have an 8m traction kite that comes out only when I'm feeling particulary strong and the wind is just right.

Holy bujeezus that kiteboarding looks nuts... what do you do if it just keeps taking you up higher? Do you have to decide to bail when it just gets too high or ride it out?
And the pics from camera hanging on a kite are pretty sweet... climbing on headstone @ J-Tree was in the first handful of lead climbs for me.
So do you set a time-delay on the camera and click the shutter before sending up the camera or do you have a remote-controlled shutter?
I haven't tried desert kite flying yet, the solar slab pic is nice :)
I think I'll have to make kite flying a standard fixture of future trip reports.

Hi Davidji, yes that kite would have flown no prob when we ran into you and spyork... but alas, we were first focused on reaching eichorn pinnacle, and then we just were focused on stopping half-way to enjoy the last rays of the sun... so no kite that evening :) But it was COLD in that wind!!!
