Nothing beats a good live performance.

I the last year, who have been some of your favorite bands to see live?

I saw an absolutely lightning-bolt show: Lucenda Williams @ the Catalyst. Wholly Smokes!

Then I have my good buds, 7 Come 11, an "Organ Trio" who get their groove on with that
Hammond B3, totally world class drums, and my buddy Mark on his Gibson. What fun...

I haven't been to any larger shows lately, are there any worth seeing?

The Robert Cray Band not too long ago at Cerritos Performing Arts, and also saw at the Coach House a great show - The Paul Thorn band. The guy is a great story teller/showman and the band was awesome. Then there is also the locals band in South Orange County - The Missiles of October. You can catch them at the Swallows in San Juan Capistrano about once a month or in Laguna Beach every Sunday afternoon.

I'm going to the friday show of the Outside Lands Music festivsl in SF this summer, Beck Radiohaed, the black keys. That's going to be an incredible auditory evening.

I saw a small band called Pela rock the bottom of the hill recently and it was really amazing to see an up and coming band with a lot of enthusiasm doing what they've been dreaming about for years.

Missing the Kate Wolf fest, my Mom will be in the Hospital.;-(

Seeing Todd Snider on Sunday at Sierra Nevada Brewery. Also at the Brewery, Paul Thorn and the Grascals, California World Fest with Dehli Dog's pack, Fall Strawberry and Hardly Strictly.

Wish I had tickets for Allison Kraus and Robert Plant, that is going to be a Great show.

Last three shows I've seen were all killer: Todd Rundgren in a 400 seat bar, X (with Billy Zoom back on guitar) in a 500 seat bar, and my faves, the Drive By Truckers. The oldies still deliver. Todd is 60 I think and still shreds the guitar. None of those ticklin' the ivory love ballads. He rocked.

nita, we saw Alison and Robert at Red Rocks and it was a bit underwhelming, despite that we love them both (and love the duet album)...the sound was fine, but the magic wasn't.

on the other end of the spectrum, was Nickel Creek last year on their farewell tour with Fiona Apple. Strange mix, fabulous show.

i saw Wilco recently in New Mexico, definately great. Seen he Flaming Lips and Primus twice now, definitely some of the best bands of our time. My favorite shows have been Ween shows, all the way. Nothing like hearing lines get blown down behind the drumset, seeing Deaner smash an acoustic into the keyboard while Glenn McClellend hammers away on the keys with wood bits flying in his face, all the while with steam and green lasers floating around. Best rock show yet, if you haven't heard them, find some of their live tracks, they are incredible.

Ditto on Wilco-Jeff Tweedy live, Ditto on Lucenda live, I have seen her 4 times.

But my most very favorite shows, B.B.King when I was 20, Lyell Lovett and his Big Band last year..Incredible!

For pure Joy and dancing fun..David Lindley & El Rey-O-X , and The Dead.

Yo Kelly What's up! Long time no see!

Seen some killer shows this year such as the FurtherFest in Angels Camp, Jorma/GE Smith at the Rio, Bruce Cockburn at the Rio, smoking hot Chicago Blues tribute at Montalvo, Dylan in Monterey, Stephen Stills at the Cat, Jackie Green at the Cat, Casey Neill in Felton, and the list goes on and on! Sure I'm forgetting tons as well!

Got some good ones coming up, Widespread somewhere in the Bay Area (can't remember where, maybe Fox in Oakland or something), Hardly Strictly this weekend!

wow, haven't seen this much live music in a long time!

It's been a little over a year ago, but I saw Sarah Chang play the Mendelssohn Violin concerto with the LA Phil at Disney Hall. On the way out we saw the fire dept working on some poor fellow who had collapsed. We wondered what had done him in, Sarah's violin or her gown?
