Some old Harding shots-if they don't come out correctly it is because I screwed up the process. First time so be patient.

A young Harding

A younger Harding.
For a free case of Val Vin or Red Mountain wine, circa mid 1950's at $1.25 per gallon, which one is Warren?

Thank's 10b4me, for the history.

Guido,
the photo is not real clear my guess would be the short guy in the middle.

Assuming Warren is in the middle have chris check the logs to
see if I was 1'st. If so email me for ups or other.

Wonderful photos - thanks!

I'd guess that Warren is the one in the middle.

Can you provide any context, e.g. where and when the photos were taken? Who the other people are?

yep-short guy in the middle

Believe it was a survey project, not sure where or when and about that case of wine. Well I guess I can air freight it, collect.

cheers

Roger Derryberry is the keeper of the archives on Harding. His pad north of Bishop is a testimonial to the life and times of Warren, complete with a "statue" in the front yard.
Sort of a "Downward Bound" type of gathering place. We visit often when Roger and Marylou are there. This is where the memorial for Warren was held.

You can always send the wine by surface mail - I'm sure it would improve with a little aging!

Or bring it to the FaceLift in September. :-)

I had no idea that Warren died on my birthday, Feb. 27th. I am kinda conflicted about my birthday now. I will have to start a new tradition of downing a bottle of wine to celebrate my birthday and Warren's life!

Cheers

A wonderful quote from the article in Climbing, which was a reprint from an article in the San Francisco Examiner magazine:

"But even though he was one of the pioneers of big-wall climbing, Harding insists that in terms of technique he could never hold a candle to his talented coevals such as Royal Robbins, Yvon Chouinard, T.M. Herbert, John Salathé and Galen Rowell. His style, he says, was to thrash his way up a route any way he could, and finesse be damned. “Oh, God, I was always a total mess,” he laughs. “I hate climbers like Royal Robbins who are so superior. He doesn’t mean to be, he just is. He’s methodic, scientific, capable, and so competent it makes me envious. I was climbing with some hotshot Brit in Yosemite once, and he said, ‘My God, Harding, you can’t do anything!’ I said, ‘I know, but I can do it forever.’”
