I miss New England in the fall... Perfect temps for climbing rock at Cathedral, Whitehorse, and the Gunks, wondering if a Halloween ascent of the Black Dike will go, every climbing area (even Hammond Pond) is beautiful beyond belief. Enjoy it.

Yeah, that was a good day. I'd been wanting to revisit Last Unicorn for years.
It was fun watching a real photog at work too, leading or rapping or anchoring to doo-dah, whatever it took to get better angles.

Enjoying it as fast as I can! September seemed a pretty good month, although looking back I see that meant I got out four times, once each weekend -- full-on weekend warrior mode, since the rest of the time I'm in terminal jockey/couch potato mode.

October, sometimes that's an even better month here. Hope so, here we go. Temperatures falling, leaves turning brighter and before long falling off.

Loved the aspens, that's another thing I miss about the west. As for next week, not sure yet -- Leslie and I were thinking about Acadia next weekend, but the forecast is iffy right now so we might stay White Mountains. I've got a day job that keeps me tied down most of the week. How long you out east?

Some real old farts, not your johnny-come-lately old farts, your nouveaux old farts, will be there...

A certificate of old fartiness (I can do better, I'd already been climbing for 5 years, but I just came across this.)

Tomcat and I played hooky from work a few weeks ago and went to western Maine, about 15 miles from Canada. He thought I should expand my horizons and off we went to fly fish, something I'd wanted to try for some time.

The colors were beautiful and ahead of the Conway area by a few weeks.

After a 5 minute crash course, Tomcat set me up with my own rod. It was fun and challenging and I actually caught a fish. We had a great day relaxing on the water, soaking up the rays, enjoying the colors and lots of good food and beer!

DMBARN, liked your moody shot of Kirkwood.

Rich, we could devote a thread to certificates of oldfartiness, there seem to be plenty of us who don't yet meet jgill's criterion.

Tradchick, that fishing trip looks so peaceful.

Likewise the Colorado aspens from Wes, I'd love to see more of those on this thread.

Badinfluence, I'm hoping our local hills will look like your Duck Pond scene in another week or two.
It's brief but so cool when that happens.

No colors in the photo below except one o' them newfangled thin ropes, and blue skies over the Kanc last weekend.
