Hi all! I'm working on a collection of stories from female climbers in Yosemite. Whose words would you like to see included? What under-the-radar women led the way for generations of female badasses?

Didn't you get the memo - this site is the Titanic of Climbing and will hit the iceberg on June 1, 2019 - so to answer your question - who gives a sh#t.

this is a good question - get it in while the forum is live(ish)

Lynn, Steph, Beth were not under the radar.

Jobee, Karine, who are some of the other women who were climbing hard?

Hey OP

It's hard to say who is "under the radar" if you won't tell us who is "on the radar". Names please.

Bruce...those women you mention, and you forgot Diana Hunter, were from the decade after the so called “golden age” of climbing in Yosemite. Any women around Camp 4 in the 60’s were almost certainly camp followers.
I have always had problems with the “golden age” tag. It was a very important era but I think it should be referred to as the “pioneering age.”

Jim,

I always considered that there were two Golden Ages in Yosemite. The Golden Age of Big Walls was in the 1960's and the Golden Age of Free Climbing was in the 1970's. The women I mentioned, except for Liz Robbins were in the 1970's.

I didn't put Diana Hunter or Barb Devine on the list because they were more influential climbers in areas other than Yosemite. Diane in Colorado and Barb in the Gunks. If Molly Higgins is on the list then Barb Eastman should probably be there as well. YMMV.
