He's not very neat and a rather poor house guest. made a huge mess of my recycling and the door to the old gear room … nothing worth bothering in my recycling. I am really minimal with the garbage and all the actual minimal food waste goes in a compost pile.

Should learn pretty quick that the compost is just vegtables and egg shells and the recycling is not worth the Hassell..

Bears like some vegetables... (and if there're any apple cores, it's their favorite). They like the smell of eggs too. They'd check over and over even if they can't get to actual food, just the smell.

they get plenty of apples in the fall. probably a new bear that doesn't know the drill. the good food is across the street at the redneck neighbors house. its a pigsty and the garbage is tasty :) got to be quick and quiet over there though because they will shoot... Plenty of successful raids though. It usually takes them a few weeks to clean up the carnage....

It was more than one culprit. Mom and cubs dragged several bags up in woods in one direction. big male took one bag the other way and left huge poop. Will repair door a bit stronger. banking that they realized its a dry hole. same thing happened about 10 years ago and it was one and done...

That poop was huge and natural. not a garbage poop! I bet they have found some gud Fud ;) I would give them the 15lbs of left over bird seed but that would likely just cause problems..

I think there's no harm if food aid is placed far from the property and in the woods.
