Reccomended. Both part one and two are great. They mention he has his own podcast station...anyone knows what it Is? Maybe I should Google it... :)

It sounded like he was on coke for that. I listened to most of it. He never slowed once talking about himself. Chris Kalous could barely get a question in. Why did you think it was so great?

It is the "Dissect" podcast. It is pretty good--listened to about half of them. Very little climbing talk as Mark hasn't climbed in 15 some odd years. A lot of bike racing / actor muscle training / punk & hardcore talk / and my favorite is him and his buddies just sitting around shooting the sh#t. I have enjoyed listening to it. One of the episodes he has Backes on their talking about back in the day. That is a good one.

I started listening to the first part of the Mark Twight Enormocast while walking 3.2 miles home in the rain at 3am from work. I was riveted.

I'm now halfway through the second podcast. It has exceeded my expectations on every level. I find him extremely engaging and his intense, discursive speaking style highly enjoyable. I found his climbs, which he chronologized in the podcast, far more impressive than what he had alluded to in his earlier writings. Amazing tales with heavy name dropping and historical anecdotes show his depth of engagement. It's mind blowing. I have nothing but awe and respect for Twight.

Added Edit: I really enjoy his "Extreme Alpinism" and felt that it resonated with my attitude toward the mountains; it was highly influential to me and other partners when it came out. Other books with profound resonance were Jon Kraukauer's "Eiger Dreams" (esp. the Devli's Thumb) and Galen Rowell's writing, esp. "Mountain Light".

Why did you think it was so great?

Same reasons as some other people stated above. Engaging, entertaining. Personally I like some honesty too. Since he was invited on the show to speak about himself and climbs he was on, I don't think it is a bad thing that he spoke about all that a lot. Thought they had a good two way conversation in which he was answering questions on point. He isn't my idol or anything. I don't think he is as great of an alpinist as his writing made him appear to be to the masses, but he sure is entertaining! There are many out there with a very impressive resume of alpine ascents. Both US climbers and those not from here, just read some of the Himalayan history in the AAJ and you will find over a hundred ascents just as impressive as anything Twight or Steve House have done, as far as commitment/difficulty/bad-assery goes.
