11 years here has been a wonderful roller coaster! I love the crazy campfire and have mentioned just why on so many threads over so many years. This may sound over the top, but I've read so many books on WWII when the bad guys came in and people and culture disappeared. PLEASE, no offense owners of this site, but I can't think of another good simile......just pare it down about 90%.

So if you all disappear here please keep in touch with lynnie on FB.

Some might say, get a life fool, but I do have a great one! I just want to keep you all a part of it. Hugs.

Lynne, you discovered this place 11 years ago, at a time when you needed something that you could not find.

But you found it here, and have drawn strength from it ever since.

Some of us fell off the path of normal a long, long time before you did. Like you, many of us didn't really know what was wrong, or where to go to find what was missing. But we found it in the climbing community, and, for the last three decades, part of that community has been on the web.

This forum, and rec.climbing before it, was as close to "home" as many of us had ever been. And even those of us who had some kind of real-life home/family/community still needed what we found online.

It now looks like this forum is going to go the way of rec.climbing, and that is a sad thing.

But, given the vast expansion of the web, we will probably be able to find new online communities and, who knows, maybe find many of our old ST friends there.

All the best.

Thanks, Ghost and johntp and so very sorry Klaus. I never thought about ST and the future. The future is forever veiled. We walk towards it with all kinds of emotions and goals. It's good to walk forward.

OK Leichtfuss, just talked, what 24 hours ago....we fer sure need to get together for a serious food and drink session! All things pass, you of all know that, time heals, you of all know that and we will ALL still be friends when this phase moves on. You of all know that. So you, me and Kelly gotta get together!
Peace my great friend

I own the rights to all said above and this is not a politically motivated statement or thought

hey there say, lynne and all...

wow, i just wish and hope that folks stay...

you all share words... words (even without the images) can still
say so very much... and, we can imagine the trips, and
hopefully folks can share links...

i know, it is not like having a real chat, where we can 'pull out the magazines and books' and show all the neat pictures that we have seen, that
match everything that we want to say... but, i reckon, it is like:

talking by 'out fashioned' phone... we run to the books case, and grab the book and 'explain the photo' as best we can...

okay, okay, i know-- i am a bit, old fashioned, and different, that way...
but--

i try to find the light and best that i can in stuff...
i hope to still hear your WONDERFUL CLIMBS...
ADVENTURES... and, hope to still SHARE all your hopes and dreams...

and, hear health update and hopes that you and your families, will
be healthy and safe...

we really still CAN have a 'taco' here...
and, a quilt... not the same-- but,
it can still whether the storms of the world...

i've seen so many amazing things here, in the realm of
helping, others...

hearing hoping... :)

I’ve participated in a few forums over the years for my various passions and hobbies. Over active and arbitrary moderation has always been the death nell of a forum. It’s a shame that this forum has gathered the disparate climbing clan from various locals and eras and looks to be be facing a ground fall.

Hey Lynne.. I didn't answer you on the photo thread.

Yes.. I use to post as Moosie and we did meet at TPR. I was on my way out of the park having to move out permanently, and you were in a time crunch, so we didn't get to talk, but it was nice meeting you.

It’s not just the administratiors...the internet seems to breed weirdness. It is a repository for people to freely express their thoughts under an avatar cover and that doesn't necessarily draw out the best in people.
I don't think there is a place for a forum that is solely climbing oriented. The only threads that have any longevity are the ones where people can pontificate their “views” ad nauseam.

Lynne, Although we have never met in person, we do share a common love of the deserts of Utah, of climbing, of boating. I have very much enjoyed your postings and your comments on some of my TRs. I, too, have found a digital community here that will sorely be missed. Might have to take the advice to move to the over 50 crowd on mountain project.

Since we are in a boat that is taking on water here, I might as well out myownself. My avatar of "Nick Danger" originated in the early 1970's when I used that name to sign in on trailhead registers and summit registers, such as they existed in Colorado and Wyoming. Nick may be my nom de plume, but Bob Dickerson is my given name.

I am going to miss all of you folks. Lynn, you have been an especially positive presence here, and I have very much appreciated that positive energy.

PEACE

bouldering88's plan is good, but my ISP doesn't even provide a news server anymore. And Google's web interface is too manky.

It would be poignant that after all the complaints about how behind on tech ST is, to have people back on REcClimbing.

I am sort of sad to imagine losing this forum; my climbing has dwindled enough in recent years that I wouldn't feel right following to another site.
