Made by Gorilla Glue. It's much more than just another duct tape.

Triaged a camper in Barstow that was literally coming apart in a dust storm while driving home from Red Rocks.

When we realized we didn't have enough room for all our sh#t for El Cap, we converted a drybag into a haul bag that ultimately exceeded all expectations.

Best part of my first aid and hike kit- I have some wrapped around a small piece of wooden dowel for every hike. I always have the ability to give an emergency Brazilian in the back country in the event that someone were to request this.

Rain-proofed multiple jobs this winter.

And coincidentally, my new favorite strain is Gorilla Glue 4.

I bought a roll last year and it exceeded my expectations. I'm still waiting to see how it holds up after a couple years exposed to the elements. Am I going to get that dusty mesh with glue stains?

I've always been under impressed. The cloth/material itself is strong, but it's not sticky enough, and with time it always seems to fail before cheaper grey stuff. And sometimes the thickness of the tape is a hindrance.

Ok, the second part of my kit is alcohol wipes made from paper towels cut into small squares dampened in pure rubbing alcohol and stored in a ziplock. I can prep what I'm tapping for better adhesion, clean a wound, start a fire, wipe off poison oak oils, clean my glasses, clean my one hitter and sooth that back country Brazilian.

Dunno bout the tape but as I recall the glue didn’t do very well in a Fine Woodworking test
compared to regular yellow glue and boy is it a mess to work with! HVAC guys aren’t allowed
to use generic duct tape. I assume the Gorilla tape meets ASTM or whatever?

My wife says that "with bungee cords and Gorilla tape you can pretty much weather most problems."

Beware Armenian PCT hikers if you see Contractor approaching with a brown roll of duct tape and a gorilla on the label.

+1 Heyzeus and Reilly.

Bunk. All of it. Marketing scam.

Nashua tape, Titebond III glue FTW.

I don’t care much for the glue nor the tape. I have a few rolls and use it here and there, but it’s really a hack product that wasn’t designed to excel at anything but seems to be just good enough as a temp fix for enough things to warrant having a roll.

The considerably cheaper 3M stuff is stickier and a little thinner - and sort of works better for more things IMO.

The military had it for a long time way before it became consumer retail.

After my various experiences with their products, I don't even look at actual gorillas the same anymore.

Rather unfortunate.

...travel trailer that has developed a leak around a skylight...

Try Pella Smartflash Tape or it's equivalent. This is an aluminum tape with very thick and sticky black adhesive. It's so sticky the adhesive has a peel off wax paper barrier. This stuff is fantastic for this type of application. Here's their website:

I couldn't believe that t-rex ad was real - but holy cow, I guess it is.

I am certain someone has already locked down the trademark for Godzilla tape - and such.

I find the tape, like the glue sucks. er doesn't stick.

Actually if you want some real tape buy a roll of gaffers tape. The real stuff not the knock off. Pro-Gaff, costs about $20 bucks a roll now but nothing beats it for so many uses.

Camper roofs get pretty hot. It’s great tape but might not stand up to the heat long term .but maybe It will

But there a cool tapes for everything. For instance, 3M 363 is a glass fabric with aluminum on one side and silicone adhesive on the other instead of the usual acrylic.
It’s used on spacecraft and robots for wrapping wiring harnesses and to seal instrument boxes. Just wrapping an instrument will help shield it.

Good to 600°F. You could tape it to your engine block if it were clean
It has a tensile strength of 135 lb per inch

The downside is it is frightfully expensive - about $100 a roll for 2” x 36’ roll on eBay.

Here’s a data sheet https://www.alliedelec.com/m/d/28e343504b1a3df2c3599cd048897069.pdf

But if you don’t want to spend that kind of cash, just get 3M’s 8979N nuclear grade duct tape.
Comes in red. It might be good enough.
I see it for About $33 for a 2” x 60 yard roll. You might do better.
